I would not call it lighter version of Skyrim, considering I actually gave a shit about the story and setting in New Vegas.

I meant in terms of gameplay and the overall feel of the game. Collecting food from plants, random cosmetic outfits in addition to actual armor, open world, having the option to just loot a place blind down to the paperweight on the desk and the empty cans in their dumpster... it just feels like Skyrim With Guns. Not that that's a bad thing, necessarily.
Although so far, yeah, the story is much more interesting. ....if there's a Cowboy Sheogorath in this game, it'll be the greatest thing ever.

New Vegas uses the Oblivion engine, so yeah, there are going to be similarities to TES games. It's also where the game's problems come from. (like the crashes, which didn't happen a lot to me, but other people really seemed to get a lot of crashes)
