If I had to go for an awesome sci-fi moment, I will toss a cookie to Gunbuster when the main characters get back after several hundred years and the whole Earth lights up with "Welcome Home" . I think it's awesome, at least.

thats more of a tearjerker than an awesome moment, really. as far as awesome moments in gunbuster goes, the most iconic would be in ep 4 when the gunbuster itself debuts.

Is that the psychedelic part? Because honestly if I hadn't read the novel I wouldn't know what the hell was going on. Also there were extremely long lengths of time with just colors, which made me bored.

If you're talking about the regular space trip or whatever, though, I liked that part.
