The way I see it, if the second to last number changes, the decade changes. That's good enough for me.

This decade didn't live up to it's expectancies and I have no reason to believe that the next one will. We aren't even going to Mars this next decade! That's planned for like 2038 or something.

As for my personal life, I started the new millenium in the final grade of elementary school. And I end this decade studying biology at the University of Helsinki. The next one I will continue with the uni. and go back to the army.

Last decade I was 10, so in 4th grade I suppose, which I still think was one of the better grades to come around. This decade, I'm in the middle of my Freshman year in college, and learning a whole lot about stuff, including people! I don't know about the rest of the world, but I'm pretty excited for my own life.

Re. linguistics, I imagine the zerozeroes (yes it's really called that) will turn into the tens when it goes from 200X to 201X, much like the nineties ended with 1999.

Anyway. Sometimes I have to pinch myself when I realize we're actually living in the future now.

So what has happened? I think the biggest change in the world is airplane security. Remember the days when you could take two knives on board in your pockets if you just promised you wouldn't use them for anything other than sharpening pencils? Nowadays if you're an artist and want to get some work done on a flight you'd better not work with any sharp tools. Or liquids. Or electronics.

If you believe some people, then this decade is our last, but those people are crazy.

And in a sense (albeit an illogical one), you can have a party for a new decade or millennium every year, as it was technically been 10 years from 1999 last new years. And so on and so forth.

This decade still hasn't provided me with hoverboards that back to the future 2 promised

It also hasn't provided me with the ability to replace my eye with a bionic one.

Although it has provided entertaining sports action as always! Along with kick ass TV, Games and Computers!

It's also the decade I got married in....I have no idea what really happened there sometimes.
