The first Serious Sam isn't out for the PS2. Or at least I don't think so.
The first Serious Sam is out for the XBox and PC. Then there's a Serious Sam: Next Encounter (Minigun with homing rounds? Ouch) that's out for the PS2. Then there's a Serious Sam II that came out for XBox. Aside from an SS that exists on the Gameboy Advance, that's all I know. |

Serious Sam II is also out for the PC, has been for years...in fact I have it on one of my hard drives.

No one has yet to mention Resident Evil 4, for shame... The Socom series is also pretty kickin'.

Res4 is technically a third-person shooter.
Myself, I enjoy SWAT 4. Very nice. CoD2 is a good standby, available on both PS2 and PC.

Yeah, you should give Resident Evil 4 a looksee. I would've mentioned it myself if I remembered they ported it to PS2.
Cold Fear is pretty kickass for another third person survival horror shooter. Man, seeing the giant waves in the ocean while on that ship in the middle of the storm was simply breathtaking. |

Yes, SWAT 4 was very good. I only got to play it once, though. Did I say FEAR?

Okay, gonna get Timesplitters, that has co-op right? 2 or 4 player co-op?

The first Timesplitters was so boring, I thought. Perhaps I was doing something wrong? I don't know. There were some funny moments, but I thought it was lackluster. The sequels I cannot speak to, as I never pursued them.
Though my experience with it is on the Xbox, Republic Commando is also available for the PC. This is a single-player FPS that seats you as the leader of an elite unit, allowing you to issue orders and organize your team instead of merely blasting at everything that movies. It's not overly long, but there are various levels of skill. I really enjoyed it, and it might be a game you could consider.
