Off topic, but Veritas, you wouldn't happen to know the name of that particular episode, would you? I seem to inexplicably not have it.

Ninja scroll was spectacularly violant, the third most violant anime I have ever seen, after Fist of the North Star as second, and the other one I can't rememeber the name of. The worst part of this other one was when the hero punches the other guy, and it goes in, like..... in his head. The guy is still alive of course, but if the hero takes out his fist, the guy dies.

The difference is, Fist of the North Star and that other one have NO class whatsoever, but Ninja Scroll was a genuinly good film!

I will be buying the second and third Geno Cyber vids soon, the first was prety horrifying even by Fist of the North Star standards!

Whoa something that beats fist of the North star. I'm not positive that could even happen. As for everyone that say Ninja Scroll is the most violent. Trust me you need to watch more anime.

Ninja Scroll has some blood, Akira has got a whole heck of a lot of violence. Lots of people melting, heads exploding, etc. I think that is the film you saw the commercial for, Atronflame. The first two short films in the Animatrix are also rather violent. One has a guys head being ripped in half and his brains spilling out, another has a bunch of crazy violence including a guy getting his arms ripped off and a couple people getting impaled. There is also some violence in Vampire Hunter D, and I agree with TheInfernalStorm that Berserk had a whole load of violence in it.

Good times.

[EDIT:] By the way, though it's not the anime, the original manga version of Akira was spectacularily violent. Much more so than the movie. It also contained much more nudity and adult themes as well.

Heh, I knew that somone with with a name like Alucard_VII would pick Hellsing. Of course, its the most violent anime I have yet to see. I just got the first two dvds for my birthday!

I think I have seen every anime listed here (except for the one you are talking about seeing a commercial for...dunno bout that one) and I have to say that the last two episodes of Berserk have to be the most violent. The show overall isn't as consistently bloody as some other anime, but Gatsu spends the last two epsides literally waist-deep in this never-ending pool of blood. The part where he chops his own arm off with an edge of a broken sword...and it takes him like 20 strokes...is simply brutal.

In the comedy category however, Excel Saga Episode 26 definately wins...it's pretty funny too. =

Berserk, the very first episode the hero goes and brutally kills someone. In just about every episode somebody either gets killed, brutally harmed, some deep dark secrets are revealed, or some violent plot it revealed (not exactly sure, I haven't watched the entire series yet). Guts the protagonist just likes to fight and kill. I'll fall into a coma from sheer shock if it ever makes it on TV.

Put my vote on ninja scroll. First scene that one nameless ninja gets his arms ripped off while blood flies everywhere. And the female ninja, she couldn't walk down the block without getting raped in that film.

I know its been mentioned before but nobody brought p the most awesome fight scene against some demon.

Demon*removes that leg too*
