Oh, God. He's spent the entire series coming up with a single taunt so terrible and devoid of cleverness that it will kill not just one foe, but everyone within earshot, this time. I'm sure of it!

Black Mage kills the Fiends, turns out that they worshipped Darko, Black Mage loses his powers before he could use them on the people he hates even more, and none of the other Light Warriors or Dark Warriors were watching.

I'm hoping he at least gets to do SOMETHING useful.

Black Mage has a good track record of indiscriminately slaughtering the enemy while the other three stand around, and the speech bubbles indicate maybe he's finally getting back to the part of him that kills everything with his doomsday arsenal of black magic and knife rather than standing around, passively taking crap from people he hates.

Black Mage hasn't been allowed to do anything cool in some time, and since over-the-top violence against the enemy while RM is planning something is a part of his character just as much as being a buttmonkey, I think he should be allowed to do something cool here before karma comes after him again.

Speech bubbles and the fact that a nexus of magical power has pretty much become as enraged as it is possible for him to get indicate that this will probably be less anticlimactic than many of the other things that have happened recently.

I know something bad will happen to BM, but hold it off until he gets back in touch with his destructive side, I say. Without orgies of violence, BM's not really BM. :/

PLEASE don't let the next comic be an anticlimactic "joke on the audience." Sometimes us pathetic losers want to live vicariously through a certain little black ball of hate.

Black Mage's shift from "violent wish-fulfillment character" to "deconstruction of violent wish-fulfillment characters" happened a long time ago, the comic is better for it, and I see no signs of a reversal. I don't see Black Mage winning any non-Pyrrhic victories here.

To be fair, Blackmage has never been useless and his team mates only pick on him because it's their way at getting him back for all the murder threats me makes to them. Black mage is the aggressive kid who lashes out at his friends to cover his insecurities, and they lash right back at him. These last few comics have made it very clear.

He also obviously does, in some way, want to do good(as the letter he wrote displayed), but his noble heroism is dwarfed by his absolutely gigantic mass of blind hate.

So I don't think he'll really fail at casting some large, powerful spell. But the effects of that spell will likely go against his wishes and the devestation will screw him over somehow for good measure.

And then black belt will come back cause that's cool har har har durr
