see, I have this whole issue with spanking.

On one hand, I think hitting children is wrong. simple enough. I'm not a parent, but I always figured that punishment along the lines of removing privileges like gaming consoles or dessert would be a preferable alternative.

on the other hand, kids are really fucking stupid, as well as short sighted. unless you do something in the immediate short term that they will associate with misbehavior, then the punishment won't be as effective. not getting dessert or having their playstation taken away aren't effective punishments if the actual moment of punishment is hours away.

If you're in a position where punishment is hours away, then you've got a situation on your hands, because it means you're either away from home or in transit. That means you're either in the car and totally impotent or at some place where the kids don't want to be and nothing is going to make it better for them.

Basically, if it's any comfort, spankings aren't going to help much in those cases anyway.

Actually public spankings are incredibly humiliating, I could see this being a winning situation for spanking, if you're into spanking.

I would be concerned that spanking might make 'hitting' seem ok for them. I don't think spanking is hypocritical, but if the kid can't understand that certain behavior is acceptable in a certain context(s), then it may as well be.

Kids are probably going to hit each other regardless of you spanking them. Will they realize that it's not okay to spank others if you spank them, though?
