I think he was attempting the human communication known as 'sarcasm,' but he failed to grasp its finer intricacies due to his status as Blues.

Yeah, there should be tags for that. Emotes clearly don't cut it, but if I can't handle getting my point across in words and smilies, I can darn well do it in code!
The CSS! Code:
.sarcasm {background-image: url("http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b392/Troy_Star/NPF%20icons/sarcasm.gif"); background-repeat: repeat} ![]() Have an icon! ![]() I'm done being insufferable now. Maybe. :P

I have issue with these threads sometimes, 'cause the way I interpret "spanking" and the definition that seems to be given to the act in such threads are pretty different. The latter falls in the abuse category, whereas what I grew up with and usually think of I'd confidently say was in the punishment for misbehaving and being an ass, etc. category. I guess if I my parents had ever done it on a whim, in public, or in the heat of the moment... Seriously, my father getting furious and doing this finger-poke-to-the-chest-to-punctuate-points was way worse. Oh, that and the "We are very disappointed in you."
Anyway. To the actual article, though I feel this thread isn't really about it any more: what? Like, seriously, what? "Man I sure wish I had a few minutes to take a few swigs of vodka and 'calm down', but these fuckers won't stop being kids! I know, let's put them to sleep!" Sure this is just one article on a subject that probably varies case-by-case, but the motivation as presented on behalf of the parents is rather retarded. In a way, it reminds me of how so many people seemed to suddenly get diagnosed with ADD and get Ritalin or Prozac prescriptions growing up.

That's a topic on its own, since they didn't even have compulsory schooling until the 19th century, so ADHD probably couldn't even exist, so who can now say it's a real disorder? Then again maybe they all became drunks and layabouts or village fools or something in ye olden dayes because of this disorder. In any case, it seems to be over diagnosed since a kid being hyper is probably more common than a kid not being hyper, frankly. Just because most people can handle school doesn't mean that everyone can or that it is unnatural to dislike sitting in a desk for eight hours and paying attention to someone you've never met before as they try to guide you through tasks you dislike.

Yeah, there seems to be some idea that these kids have attention deficit disorder in all aspects of their life, but for a lot of them it just seems to be their school work. I don't know enough about it, though (I should take a special learners class at my college).
