When Helen offered to burn the building, was she serious, or trying to get a rise out of Velour? 'Cause that doesn't really seem like the kind of thing that Helen would do. I mean, she's tried to be compassionate and all, when she saved Heather and Lily (it's the thought that counts, right?)
Unless this reflects the change in her personality as she has slowly lost touch with her humanity, either through her transformation into a vampire, or adjusted to the dangerous environment into which she has been so cruelly thrown, or her conscious has become numb with all the killing and hard decisions she has been faced with, so that her ethics, nay, her very being, is like a rocky cliff slowly worn away by the thunderous waves relentlessly crashing upon it, day after day, without reprieve, inevitably crushed beneath overwhelming pressure, and what was once a bastion of morality is now sand pushed along by the fickle tides. Or, y'know. Whatever. |

Pretty sure she was just trying to get under VV's skin (fucking Toreador), most likely in response to her thinking she might be under the influence of Presence.

Don't make me download the server pack just so I can shoot the crap outta you with a Toreador with an SMG.
Seriously--best combat clan ever.

Yeah, that makes more sense. I mean, Helen has had a lot of development, but she's been consistent in her desire to remain human. Figuratively speaking.
Idly speaking, do you suppose Velour is stronger than Helen right now? I'm quite certain she means ostracism from the Hollywood Kindred by her threat, but I wonder if she, personally, has the bite to match her bark. What I've read suggests that Toreador are unbalanced with submachine guns and celerity, so... EDIT: Krylo has made his position clear. |

Celerity is a bitch (moreso in Bloodlines than in the actual tabletop game, but extra actions still kick ass), but then, Toreador don't tend to focus on combat skills too much, though a vampire of any clan IS going to dig into that stuff eventually, provided they survive long enough. At this point in the game, I'd probably be betting on Helen. She's kicked too much ass by this point, whereas the Hollywood kindred use asses for little more than sitting. Even if VV is stronger, Helen's got Eye of the Tiger, and is a lot more willing to do what it takes. In the tabletop game, you need at least a few ranks in Celerity for it to really show its usefulness. And I can still ruin your day with a measly two ranks in protean, even if you spend an action to dodge some of it. Aggravated damage FTW.

Alright, that makes sense. Helen's fights toward the beginning versus her more recent fights show a lot of growth.
Anyway, another point that was bugging me: Velour has Presence, which is affecting Helen. But the Ventrue have that ability as well. So, why doesn't Helen's seem to have the impact that Velour's does? Is the Toreador's Presence stronger than the Ventrue's? Or has Helen not developed that ability? |

Could be low dots, or it could be that she is using it unconsciously, but she's just dealing with other kindred who are more experienced at experiencing that sort of thing. I think it's just emphasized more with VV, because she pretty clearly has four or five dots in it.

I'm going more with Helen hasn't developed it. Think about it, she's winging this entire thing as she goes along. No one's really teaching her any rules. More than likely she's still susceptible for certain things.

Eh, she could be using it at one dot and barely be affecting anything. I can't remember Presence powers though, or how they operate in Bloodlines specifically.
