FREE TF2 HATS.
As if $6.80 for either L4D title wasn't encouragement enough, Valve is handing out Ellis' Hat and the Frying Pan to any Team Fortress 2 player who either purchases L4D2 by Thursday at 4PM Pacific Standard time or who already owns the game. According to Valve, those who already own the game will start seeing the items in-game within the next few days. The hat and frying pan can be equipped by any class. So now you really have no excuse not to purchase some fine Valve-made zombie killin' games.

For some reason, I really like Whitaker right there. Valve blog posts are always entertaining, though.

Have you tried saving a pipe bomb for the end? 'Cause that will solve the major problem of them being attacked by zombies and slowing them down enough for one of the three tanks to start murderin'. I've played through it three times and I've beaten all three, though I was playing on Normal with competent teams each time.

Tried that. I think the problem was it was just me and a friend; the other two were bots. I probably need a full team to pull it off.
That or switch to Easy mode.

I've waited for the Tanks to start to climb before I made my move, then started shooting, and when it was out, swapped to my melee weapon instead of reloading. It seems to work for me.

Just read all four parts of the comic. If you haven't yet you need to.

SO The Sacrifice FINALLY finished dowbnloading for my L4D2. (Still have to start downloading for the original.... there's another three days. >.< ). My initial thoughts: Holy moly Valve, thank you for all the new dialogue!! For a free DLC, they really put a lot of work into this. They had to pay for the voice actors to come back, they had to reanimate the original survivors' hands to hold the new weapons (although Zoey's fingers go through the middle of the magnum when she reloads). and I think they spiffed up the characters to make their graphics on-par with L4d2's? I dunno, Francis' tattoos looked more defined to me and everybody looked shiny, so I assume so.
I wasn't able to play through the whole thing yet; I got to the pile o' gravel outside the freighter before I had to quit and get ready for work (Louis' cry of "got some GRAVEL here!" brought to mind TF2's obsession with gravel pits and that made me laugh. Dunno if that's intentional or me just being a Valve freak). I am so happy they got Bill's voice actor back!! I was kinda worried the actor would refuse again and we'd be stuck with a bunch of reused voice commands for him while everyone else got new dialogue. (Although I kinda thought part of the reason why Valve kills him off in The Passing was because the voice actor didn't want to come back... So.....) Gameplay is pretty fun so far; I really enjoyed the train yard with the tank in the car. Some of the areas are a bit boring visually, and somewhat easy to get lost in (WAREHOUSES ARGH), but they're made up for by the beautiful and detailed outdoor areas. Again, the trainyard was awesome, as are the random docks and bayside areas. The dialogue and character interaction retains what I loved about the original survivors, from what little I've heard so far. I've only played as Zoey, so I've heard her bicker with Bill and get pissed off about being the one who has to release the tank from the train car. Francis' incessant pestering about boats makes me happy, although I've yet to hear him hate anything yet. I have noticed that the special infected and horde musical cues seem quieter in this campaign; the first few special infecteds and at least one swarm took me by surprise before I started hearing the quieter music. Heck, a tank snuck up on me somehow at one point. It also took me a while to notice the explosive barrels-- I didn'teven realize what they were until I walked past one in the brickyard.

Francis is the best when it comes to opening the Tank car. I literally started laughing when it happened. This is how the dialogue went:
When I saw the train car while playing as Francis he said something like "Hey Louis, you should open that." or "Hey Louis, you wanna take this?" (I forget exactly what he said). But I ran up anyway and started to open up the door, and Francis whispered "Go for the one with the tie." Best part? The tank actually went for Louis once I opened the door, though I dunno if that was on purpose or an accident.
So yeah, awesome stuff.
