I haven't played it myself, but from what I have hear while its bad for a bioware game, its still a great game. Which is what I am saying, it might be disappointing because we have such high expectations but as long as for a stand alone game its ok then I can live with it

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year olds life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

the point is less "OH GOD THEY'RE PUTTING A NETWORK PERSON IN MY VIDEOGAMES" as it is that this is a sign of the game becoming far more commercialized and superficial.

Man am I glad I never jumped on this bandwagon. I hate it when the conclusion to a series I like is shit because the developers couldn't be assed to put every ounce of care and precision into it that they did with the first entry.

So I usually hate most game series nowadays.

I said it would be an epic trilogy because we are talking about a story that carries over three games with your choices carrying over and having noticeable effect. Even if the third game is crap its still "epic" because epic doesn't mean good it means a very long narrative.

And I say, in the same post, I haven't played Dragon Age 2, merely saying what I have heard about it. Maybe Bioware lost their crap immediately after Dragon Age, cause it was the last game they made that I have played but I do not have first hand experience to make me think so.

Oh. Ok. I just assumed you were using the diluted "epic=awesome" definition, since it's been so damn long since I've seen/heard someone use it in the original sense (outside of university classes, of course).

Yeah, I got that. I just don't know where you heard that it was a good game, or who told you these lies.

You said it would be "the most epic story in gaming history". That doesn't really seem to work with the literary definition of an Epic, since it will be no more an epic than any other epic.

Last I checked we are not talking about Legacy of Kain.

ANYWAY.

Bioware has been slipping a lot since ME2. Most of ME2 was very good, but a good chunk of it was just for lack of a better word, retarded. The main plot with the collectors did not really progress the overall plot from ME1. Reapers were coming at the end of ME1 and they were STILL coming at the end of 2, and the big team you built seems to be barely used in ME3.

We all know how much of a cock-up DA2 was so let me skip that.

Old Republic, which I am playing though right now, is defiantly better then DA2, but the writing is starting to slip hard. At least with my smuggler, I was able to make a drinking game for all the times I got a lightside/darkside choice that made NO SENSE (example, early on I could give medicine stolen from the republic army in a warzone back to the them or the people who stole it, who are refugees. This is so clearly a gray choice since they both need it, but for some contrived reason the army is the EVVVVIIIILLLLLL choice) or involved hurting kids in someway, cause it is totally not the most exploitative way to get a reaction (THINK OF THE CHILDREN). My favorite of the later example was fixing sewer pipes, and you don't see a single kid in the entire sewer, but AS SOON AS YOU START FIXING IT out from the shadows 2 kids said they need the water leaking from the pipes.

Basically, recent track records and EA's reputation of being....EA....as well as the info we have so far about ME3 makes me have 0 faith in it finishing the trilogy in a decent way.
