I'll let you guys know how it is, in case nobody else gets one. Pickin' mine up tonight at midnight. Bam.

I'm fina get no sleep and play up some Zelda and also get no sleep.

I am the red of my bull. Aluminum is my skin and taurine is my blood. I have played over a thousand games. Unaware of loss, nor aware of gain. Withstood pain to purchase consoles, waiting for one's arrival.

I have no regrets. This is the only path.

My whole life was Unlimited Games Played.

Fun I can relate to the anticipation -- NieR Automata is to me what new Zelda is to you

I wish Nintendo would just go third-party with their major console titles (they can keep the 3DS and continue owning the handheld market) for Sony and Microsoft, to be honest. It's hard to get excited about owning a Nintendo console just for Zelda and Smash (and maybe Fire Emblem if Nintendo is serious about a console release that isn't also on 3DS), but I struggle to identify additional exclusives that merit consideration.

(Hell, I'm not even a huge Zelda fan. For a narrative junkie like me, Nintendo's rather subdued, kid-friendly, dialogue-lacking approach to storytelling more often misses the mark.)

Still, I hope the Switch does well, competition is a good thing for the medium as a whole and I feel like Microsoft's PC-inclusive approach this generation leaves consoles in a potentially precarious position where Sony may either achieve an industry-detrimental exclusives-fueled market hegemony or the market for consoles generally will just suffer a slow and gradual demise.

I hope the console is great and ends up being a success, but I have no reason to get one for a long while. Zelda's going to be on the WiiU as well so I'm just going to buy that version, and there are no other exclusives that I'm clamoring to get, especially not at launch.

I was too tired to plug it in and install it last night. I'm gonna be doing that soon here.

I'm excited for Mario Odyssey and portable Skyrim personally Zelda excites me greatly as well. I think this system has a lot more potential than previous ones, and I especially like the move back to cartridges. Discs have been fun but cost a lot of overhead in hardware, power, and create a decent amount of heat. Disc drives are prone to breaking, laser degradation, etc...

So!

Will let you guys know, and this time not via a badly mangled parody of Fate/Stay Night.

It's so shiney you guys.

okay so there are framerate slowdowns when the console is in the docking station. Specifically when a lot if going on, leaves swaying, grass, etc. that's a lil frustrating? trying to approach it measured but i feel like this is something that shouldn't be in a final product and is something they absolutely had to know about.

the feel of zelda: botw is amazing so far (few hours in) and the scope just keeps expanding. it's amazing. visually stunning and engaging, it really is starting to feel like a nintendo skyrim (albeit marginally less busy). it's not empty by any stretch though. shit is always going on. the main story so far however is still "ganon did a bad, zelda did a good but is in trouble, go to the village and then eventually save her' so lil nervous

will update further in re: other games soon. i havent even dug into the launch titles yet.

I staked outside the bestbuy for about 4 hours in a cold nerd shantytown and managed to snag one for myself AND for my little brother.

Zelda is cool as shit. I think the IDEA behind the console is definitely a good one. It just desperately needs more software. Assuming it gets third party support, I can definitely see it as being a go-to system. After all, if I can play Yuka Laylee or whatnot on the Switch on my TV, in bed, or where-ever, why would I bother getting it on the PS4, assuming it runs more or less the same?

BUT ALSO I GOT THE WRIST STRAP STUCK BECAUSE I PUT IT IN THE WRONG WAY AND IT WOULD NOT COME OUT AND I EVENTUALLY MANAGED TO FIND OUT HOW TO UNDO IT BUT SCRATCH UP THE SIDE OF A JOY CON WITH A SCREW DRIVER IN THE ATTEMPT AND HOW DID THEY NOT SEE THAT IN TESTING.

I bought 3 and sold them for profit. Yes I'm a bad person.

But I didn't keep one for myself and now regret not having it to play Zelda because apparently this game is doing nothing but winning all day.

Yeah, this Zelda game is basically the defining game of the series, and an absolute (if proverbial) feather in Nintendo's cap.

It's just amazing how I can see something I want to do in the distance, set out to go do it, and turn the game off 4 hours later not having reached my original destination because of all the other cool shit I saw on the way.

Also, I am easily distracted.

Can anyone comment on the difference between the Switch and Wii-U versions of Breath of the Wild? I'm still too hesitant to throw money at another Nintendo console just yet.

I'm finding it very enjoyable on the WiiU. Can't really comment on the differences, though when I was at PAX East I did see a fair number of people playing Zelda on the Switch. Seemed pretty solid from what I could glance.

I guess it depends on how much you're looking forward to future Switch games, but at least for now I'm in no hurry to drop 300-400.

I like it on the switch and have not played it on the Wii U. I understand the differences are minor and mainly related to button presses and graphics.

I like the portability of the switch but if you're hesitant to drop fundz then the Wii U version of Zelda should be just fine for ya.
