![]() So New York is experiencing a hurricane! Hurricane Sandy! So is Toronto! All my relatives live there, including my two tiny cousins! I'm a little worried, can you tell? ![]() ![]() ![]() Not quite what Frank Sinatra imagined. The underground subways are flooded, the streets are flooded, deaths have occured: Quote:

All that being said, according to something I heard in passing on CNN, Sandy will boost the economy of the US by giving more jobs to unemployed construction workers.

Ironic, isn't it? But it will wreck the economy because the NYSE is going to drop eleventy billion points, I heard.

The damage and death toll from sandy is really sky rocketing. At this rate the total damage costs could break 50 Billion. I don't want to even think about the death toll.

I believe I read the damage was estimated topping out at 30 bil. Death toll is still under 40 at this time. It's not the apocalypse, like what happened in New Orleans, but it's going to take a while for NYC to get running again.

So this thread hasn't included New Jersey. most of the state will not have power for a week. there is no transit and most of the roads are restricted, closed, or under curfew. no gas and limited food. a few cities bordered by the ocean have been devastated. there's a giant fuck you vibe because it looks like nothing is going to be done anytime soon

Obama and Romney are scrambling now.

Obama is actually in New Jersey and has been meeting and speaking with Christie for a few days now. Christie has given nothing but effusive praise for the president, shocking a lot of people who expected partisan business as usual. It seems like...people are actually working together. From what I'm reading, I am not getting either a "scrambling" vibe nor a "fuck you" vibe at this time.
Well, Romney seems to be scrambling. Obama seems to be presidenting.

i like how it seems mitt doesn't seem to get that subtle hints back at your campaign aren't really going to make you look better than obama, who's actually using his power and connections to make an effort to fix shit.
i think i'll vote for the guy who's actually doing his job, instead of a do-nothing pretender. |
