Two and a half million people (or even three million when it's sure to get to that), is still less that 1% of the American population. That's not going to be enough people signing an online petition to sway nearly enough legislative people into going against the traditional way our system of government has worked for over two hundred years. We've known as a country for some time that a majority of polled people think the electoral college is dumb and want it gone, but it still remains. On the plus side, I'm sure all those names and emails will go a long way to help build a great organizational database to fight for future progressive policies.

That being said, I do like several of the ideas being floated about states making compacts to have their electors vote with the will of the majority vote, meaning that once states totaling 270 electoral college votes sign up, the electoral college will effectively be dead. Again though, that won't help us in two months, but it will help in subsequent elections.

Also, in Trump news: Trump is still a waffling, confusing jerk.

Asked whether he thought his rhetoric had gone too far in the campaign, the president-elect responded: “No. I won.”

Mr. Trump suggested he would now turn more positive, saying that was true of his victory speech early Wednesday morning as well as his comments with Mr. Obama at the White House Thursday. “It’s different now,” he said.

The hashtag #TransLawHelp has several notaries offering to help with services for free, including name changes. A handful have history as being scammers but most people are coming up clean. Careful in St Louis as one pro bono lawyer will abandon Court cases and dump you suddenly leading to warrants. (Trying to get lawyer name from friend who was so afflicted)
