Tech Support Checking someone's IP over MSN: Possible?

Just out of the Blue... i have 2 contacts on my MSN that i think are the same person. Both accounts are on at the same time, which i know it's possible. I was trying to figure out a way to know, and i recalled that in earlier versions of Live Messenger, you could simply send a file to someone and check it via Netstat on the DOS CMD.

that doesn't seem to work anymore.

Now, i do understand that getting someone's IP is a destructive thing. So it's not really easy or all that ok to do. But is it possible? And also, is there any other way you guys know to verify soemthing like this?

nnnnnnnno, misinformation is bad. Bit of a delayed response but whatever, clearing up the air here. That'll give you the IP address of the Instant Messenger's servers that you're using that relays the message. Not the actual person's computer's IP address.

There are too many variables to sift through that an average user wouldn't even know where to begin looking. Sure you can get a different IP address by running netstat /n during a direct connection, but that'll more than likely (and a very big more than likely) just give you the IP address of their router. Or maybe an address assigned by said router via DHCP with any number of other devices on their network..and said dynamic addresses could very well change at any point in time. Or they could be behind a proxy. Again, far too many variables for anyone who doesn't have a finer understanding of network processes.

You're better off figuring that if they're the same person through social engineering.
