Make a few Notepad documents of particulars and post them as attachments. Thats how most in-depth rules-wise RPs convey their neccesities (Squishy Cheeks usually has a few reams of l5r rules hecondenses for consumption, so maybe try asking him nicely?), or you could awlays take the "Gaze in Wonder" approach and copy and paste all your information in multiple posts (one post for me is about 2-2.5 pages in Word), a tactic used by a few RP makers.
Basically, if its interesting enough it really doesn't matter how you present it as people will go through it anyway.

This seems to be the best place to ask a particular question I have, though I suppose it isn't strictly a roleplaying question (in terms of RPing here, that is).
Would this be the appropriate forum for a thread concerning "fan created" pen and paper RPing systems? I am not talking about a campaign for a d20 system (such as DnD) or for a HERO system, but rather for the discussion of the mechanics of creating one's own system, or aspect of a system, from the ground up. A quick internet search will reveal just how many of these Fan created systems are around, though there seems to be a disturbing lack of information about the actual process of creation. However, it seems like such a topic might fit in with Off-topic, General, and Arts and Crafts as well, so I thought it best to check to be sure. Thanks for your time. |

RP sign-ups and discussion would be good... and it could fit, tenatively, into arts and crafts and probably fit into general as well.
I'd suggest it in RP sign-ups/discussions, though, because you'd get more useful feedback and discussion as that you're only getting people who have an interest in roleplaying, with or without systems, and thus have a more focused group.

umm.... well there'd have to be a thread in which there are "red mages" to speak of. To my expererience, which, I will admit, is no where near up to date (I've been gone a long time) there usually aren't RP's with a strict "Class" or "Job" system to them.
In general scan the sign-up threads for something that catches your fancy, read the introduction and see if what you want to play fits what the GM wants to create.

Two things I was wondering about in terms of RP mechanics.
1. Regarding godmoding and dealing with other players. Example scenario: Let's say my character (call him Bob) ends up opposed to another player's character (call him George). Bob knows for a fact George will be walking down a specific road sometime soon, so he decides to lay a snare for him. Do I announce the snare before or after George walks into it? I'm guessing it's "before" and George's player can't avoid it based on out of character knowledge, but I'd rather be sure. 2. Regarding godmoding and dealing with NPCs. Another example scenario: I turn a corner, at which point the GM announces I have come face to face with a generic skeleton. I respond by pulverizing the skeleton into a pile of calcium. Because, you know, it's a bunch of bones with neither muscles nor ligaments. Unbeknownst to me, the GM intended for that skeleton to be the Lord High Of All Doom and Suffering, who could not be so easily defeated, in disguise. Is that my problem (shouldn't have declared the result of my actions) or the GM's (should have given more warning)?

On the first thing, there are a few things you can do, but it's always before. The first, and most obvious is simple-have it out there for everybody to know, if you can trust the other player to keep it IC. The second is to talk it out with the other player like you suggested yourself, which still requires trust. The third option I can think of is to talk it out with the GM (and possibly leave a clue in your post that something is there, though not necessarily all the time); that way, you have the GM knowing what you already planned, so that the other player can't just claim you did it out of the blue.
For the second, most of the time in NPF, if it's not given a description of how powerful an enemy is, they're generally cannon fodder. On some boards and RPs though, there may come a time where a situation like that does happen. In those cases, there should have at least been a clue that it was different, so it's mostly the GMs fault if he/she didn't leave a clue, and your fault if you didn't bother to notice it. |

Okay, I have question, and I would like to ask about "battle royal"s. I'm just wondering if these are allowed, as I am confused as to what this statement meant:

What it's saying is this: Do not make any RPs that involve sticking characters in an arena and having them fight.
It’s pretty straightforward. If you really want to do a Battle Royal, then you could try to convince shiney through PM's.
