Why is it that you can be falling asleep / dozing doing a normal activity, like sitting at your computer, but when you try to go to realsies bed your brain decides it is time to become more active. So then as you try to jump-start the trip to sleep land you start thinking about various topics to distract yourself.

There were some neat pics posted in chat of Overwatch characters, and the artwork looked good. I really dig fanart, and I've followed it for a few different media / things. For example, I'm a sucker for good art of characters and events in the Warcraft universe, and some of the Starcraft. For quite a while, I followed the Dota/Dota2 fanart community (this was aided tremendously by the Facepunch Dota 2 forums section, but at some point a couple years back Gary of Gary's Mod fame [I think it's that guyl?] and his team removed a bunch of subforums and the art thread(s) kind of disappeared and I can't be arsed to actually sift through 4chan for the good threads). Homestuck and the like have a big fandoms in general, and lots of art gets produced. I have some of that stuff saved.


What fanart draws you in? Are you following any particular artist, particular game/movie/whatevs? Are there certain sites you find to be better resources to browse (e.g. a group on DeviantArt, if that's even still a thing, a collection of folks on tumblr (it sure seems like artists are making good use of that site), a wiki or gallery site somewhere)?

Anway, future me would find it very cool if you wanted to share some galleries or specific art or even individual artists. I'd post some stuff but I guess in the last year or two Comcast axed personal file storage / websites and I suppose I'd need to set up a thing on like photbucket or imgur or whatever is hip and cool these days. I think I saved everything I had uploaded, I don't know. My Dota2 stuff would probably contain a lot of Fwosh and the person who does the Dire Circumstances comic, but to be honest the various things I saved are from all over and, as kind of mentioned above, not really from one source and in a way gathered for me by the cool folks at Facepunch who sifted through all the random stuff in order to make posts in their art threads.

Warcraft stuff used to be easy 'cause you could get a lot of it from Blizzard direct. But I haven't been to their site in a while. Maybe I should check in again.


OH MAN I have a bunch of Undertale, too. That game is terrific, and a lot of the artwork is really good. I have collected a lot of Undyne and Muffet stuff, but there're some great renditions of scenes from the game out there. So many awesome characters, I want to be friends with them all!


In conclusion, let's talk about and/or share fanart!

I thought I had an Asuka-in-Dva's costume, but it turns out it was actually Asuka in Hatsune Miku's iconic outfit (oh, yeah, point of fact, I am a sucker for anything Asuka or Ryoko related). Attachment powers, activate.

I'm not really much for collecting fanart. Nothing against it, I just don't get into fandoms so I don't come across fanart as much. Come to think of it, I hardly ever browse deviant art or art-sharing websites anymore.

However, there are two sailor moon pieces I'm fond of:



This is by Jinyoung Shin, who I've been following for awhile. A lot of her older artwork was removed from her current website (for example, this sailor moon fanart) but is more colourful than what she has currently posted there. So google image search will give you a more complete taste of her style.



This was my desktop for awhile. It's by this lady. It's awesomeness speaks for itself. Some ladies even cosplayed it (google bosozuko sailor scouts cosplay and you'll see it.)

Are you looking for fanart(ists?) specifically? Cause I don't know a lot of those but for artists in general I could blow up this thread.

So like, for galleries I mostly use Dynasty Scans for all my fanart needs.

I'm trying to think of any fanartists in particular I'm really into.



Pito does Love Live fanart pretty exclusively and I really like their stuff. They also do comics that are published online, titled My Joy and Her Pet. Warning that My Joy is like... soul-crushing.

Another artist I like is Mira. She does mostly porn but she did some really good silly comics about Valkyrie Drive that I really like.

I'm in the same boat as pocheros, I kinda just watch or read shit and then hop on the next one so I never dive hard enough to get some fanart. I do have, however, this awesome fanposter of Pacific Rim made by Yoji Shinkawa the Metal Gear Solid artist.

You might say I like fanart, yeah

I use it for my screensaver, actually. You know, that My Pictures Slideshow one that's supposed to be for photos of your loved ones and good memories.

It began as a Touhou folder, but it's grown to encompass more stuff, still mostly Touhou, Love Live, and Pokemon. Pretty much any nice art I find goes in there now.

Surprisingly I very rarely look at doujins, though. No real reason why not, but 99% of my collection is just single images that are cute or funny in their own right, rather than part of an ongoing story.
