Sanders put out an Op-ed in the NYT today.

I will keep an open mind to see what ideas Mr. Trump offers and when and how we can work together. Having lost the nationwide popular vote, however, he would do well to heed the views of progressives. If the president-elect is serious about pursuing policies that improve the lives of working families, I’m going to present some very real opportunities for him to earn my support.

Let’s rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and create millions of well-paying jobs. Let’s raise the minimum wage to a living wage, help students afford to go to college, provide paid family and medical leave and expand Social Security. Let’s reform an economic system that enables billionaires like Mr. Trump not to pay a nickel in federal income taxes. And most important, let’s end the ability of wealthy campaign contributors to buy elections.

In the coming days, I will also provide a series of reforms to reinvigorate the Democratic Party. I believe strongly that the party must break loose from its corporate establishment ties and, once again, become a grass-roots party of working people, the elderly and the poor. We must open the doors of the party to welcome in the idealism and energy of young people and all Americans who are fighting for economic, social, racial and environmental justice. We must have the courage to take on the greed and power of Wall Street, the drug companies, the insurance companies and the fossil fuel industry.

When my presidential campaign came to an end, I pledged to my supporters that the political revolution would continue. And now, more than ever, that must happen. We are the wealthiest nation in the history of the world. When we stand together and don’t let demagogues divide us up by race, gender or national origin, there is nothing we cannot accomplish. We must go forward, not backward.

Not 100% sure if this belongs here or in a new thread, but the game Gone Home is on a "Pay what you want" sale this weekend, with 100% of the proceeds going towards Lambda Legal. From their website, they're "a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work".

I'm getting pretty tired of Trump voters saying, "Now you know how we felt when Obama was elected." No, I'm pretty sure that you didn't feel this way. When Obama was elected, black people did not go, "It's on, motherfuckers! Let's take this country!" and commence harassing white people... not that there weren't protests during all the attacks that black people weren't perpetrating. I know that many people feel disoriented and threatened by the increasing presence of other ethnic groups, LGBT+ people, and other people not like them, but that is so not the same thing. (And honestly, I'm struggling to empathize with anyone who either thinks that way or saw everything that Trump said and did and still thought X issue was more important. The more reconciliary part of me is like, "Okay, let's hang together and figure out how to make this work," but the rest is like, "Fuck you assholes, if you want to burn down the house so badly, I'll jump out and leave you to it.")

Also, I'm past 30, fool. I've watched other Republican presidents elected in my lifetime. It was disappointing, and I was dreading the subsequent 4-8 years (they weren't great), but it wasn't like this then, either. Quit forgetting that we had 8 years of Republican presidency between the two Democrats whenever it's convenient.

Holy shit guys, we're going to have to count on Paul fucking Ryan of all people to keep this country together. Which isn't even an endorsement of Paul fucking Ryan, but rather a frightening acknowledgment that he's practically a protagonist when compared to Donald Trump

Someone on Twitter pointed out that mass deportation isn't feasible so what actually happens when they try to do this is the people they aim to deport just get put in camps. It's framed as "temporary" until we're able to properly deport them. But then we just kill them. We kill them with starvation, abuse from those in charge of the camps, thirst, easily preventable disease. And well we didn't literally put them in gas chambers so the white moderates just shrug it off as unfortunate rather than as being as awful as it is.

Patrick Stewart said that Trump being elected is one of the worst things to ever happen and, while that certainly puts him above William "who fucking even cares, I'm Canadian" Shatner and confirming beyond a shadow of a doubt that Picard>Kirk, it has a lot of people riled up with stuff like "What about the Holocaust?"

Well, let's look at that. See, post WWI Germany was an irrelevant shitstain of a country and, in a span of a few years after electing a charismatic but questionably competent guy running on A LOT of the same platforms as Trump, rose to nearly conquer Europe and murdered millions in an organized continent-wide ethnic cleansing endeavor. Now, imagine what the US--the world's only remaining military superpower with the largest nuclear arsenal in what could very well be galactic history, I should remind you--could do operating under those same policies.

Because it wouldn't be pretty, and very well could qualify as not just one of the worst things in history but THE worst. I think perhaps Stewart's warning should be well heeded.

There are a lot of people pointing out that a great many recent Trump decisions are literally right out of Hitler's playbook so I mean... yeah.
