And it doesn't stop there, either. I'm a picky guy, and even so I have a lot of brilliant SNES games. |

Hmmm....
SNES because of its sheer quality, and nostalgia? N64 because even though I played SNES first, I played the N64 longer and played more games (nostalgia)? Dreamcast, which I bought after it had died but still remember the brilliant phenomenon that it was? Gameboy/Advance for never ceasing to amaze me? PS2, for coming out of nowhere and completely slapping us all in the face with the number of quality titles, domestic and imported alike, it had for us? NES for its pure klassik style? Humm... I'd want to side with something brilliant and unexpected like the PS2 (and I do have very fond memories of the Playstation 1, but again, I bought it past its prime, so I wasn't 'in the whole scene' as I was with others), but I guess my heart is tied to either the SNES or N64.

It's a tough decision, really. The PS2 has a lot of great games for me, even though I was practically raised on the SNES. However, the former wins because the PS2 can play PS1 games, some of which included redone versions of the original FFs.
Still, it's a narrow margin. In fact, I'd have to say that I love the PS2 so much because I grew up with my SNES, since it had a much more familiar feel to it than the GC ever had-and don't get me started on the XBox. |

I simply can't decide. I had only an NES for the longest time, and after that, I had only a PS1 for the longest time. I loved them both. I also have a GBA SP that I've been playing for a year and a half - I use it so much that my R button is worn out.
I now have a PS2. I have also played a great many SNES and N64 games. I can only say that I like them all.

I have to go with the SNES as well. Notwithstanding that it had the majority of my favorite games, it took what really did manage to be the most revolutionary system, the NES, and simply make it better without Nintendo's later habit of trying to make things increasingly more complicated in numerous failed attempts to reinvent the wheel. Simply note the Super's controller: it was perfect. Size, layout, number of buttons, it had everything you needed and nothing you didn't. Nintendo, being dumbasses, opted to completely redesign their signature controller with the N64 and again with GC, making what are considered some of the worst controllers in history. Sony, on the other hand, just stole the SNES controller design and added a couple buttons to the shoulders and some analog sticks (which are now pretty much necessary for games nowadays) and really didn't do much of anything else. Why fix something if it ain't broke?
Of course, I got a lot of milage out of my Genesis, as well, but it didn't have as many good games. Mostly just every good Sonic game ever made. And for that, it's high on my list.

SNES, but if the Rev has full backwards compatability, I will change it to that.
Even IF it has a funked up controller, it'd be awesome.

anyways, i would have to say the N64 is the best system because of the sheer amount of games that were so much fun. i STILL play the games on it every now and then. i just hate how i lost so many of my good games. there were TONS of good games i like on that system: Star fox 64 ( i wished i hadnt lost this one..) GoldenEye 007 Mario Tennis Paper Mario THPS Jet Force Gemini Mario Party tons and tons of variety. |

SNES, so many good games, and the peak of RPGs as a genre. None of the new RPGs seem to do as much for me as those ones did.
Now, to whoever pointed out gamegear for shaq-fu, I raise you this.

The only real reason I side with PS 1 is because the best FFs are on it to in anthanology. Not origins becaose that is not FF2. I don't know what it is.
But the PS 1 is my source of nostalgia. Other than that PS2. But only for the fact it plays PS1 and it's good games.(Dragon Quest 8!!!!!)

Aggh.
I'm an FF fan, people, but if your entire reason for a console being 'the best,' or if that's the reason that 'pushes it (well, I can kinda see that one),' you really need to read more about/play more games. Final Fantasy really wasn't the one reason why SNES or PS was good. They were minor, albeit very awesome, portions of the grand total of awesome games.
