How many units did the 360 have for the previous holiday season?

If Sony isn't pulling our leg again, that means 2 million units worldwide for the holiday season.

And while guessing is all well and good, I don't think anyone knows enough to say how things will turn out.

I keep seeing fanboys compare the PS3 to the N64. (Yet avoid comparing the 360 to the Dreamcast. ) The problem with that is that the N64's biggest problem wasn't even the price of the cart's, but the fact they simply weren't as good a storage medium as cds. But the blu-ray, even if expensive, will have a lot to offer.

This E3 will be one to remember. Revolution news, PS3 game footage very likely, and the 360 starting to hit it's stride. No matter who you are rooting for, you'll have something to look forward to.

Seconded.

I knew they weren't going to hold on to the "Spring release" because of how little there was in production releases and such.

Saw this coming. Surprise is minimal.

EH-DUT: So apparently it's going to be over $425, too. Viva la Revolution, indeed.

holiday release...sigh. why don't these people understand? we're nerds, console releases are major and rare events, they are holidays unto themselves. there is no need to complicate matters by launching them during actual holidays.

thier online service was kind fo surprizing. well, surprizing in that they would see the folly of not having such a service and add it in.

in fact, i'd bet good money that this whole six month delay is related to the construction of thier "Playstation Network Platform"

As soon as Sony can build me a pair of headphones that lasts more than four months, we'll see about dropping 400 dollars on their new game system.

Mostly it's starting to look like Sony just doesn't know how to build things anymore.

That's the fairest, cleanest, and most unbiased report of the Big Three's future I've ever heard from a self-called fanboy. You win sir.

On-Topic: I'm not really surprised at all. Given their past history, it's about time they learned to take their time with these things to prevent faulty/defective hardware from hitting the market. I might even consider getting this latest brainchild of Sony if the price drops reasonably after release.

Although not likely, as I make it a habit to make sure I'll be playing a good amount of games on the system before getting it... Sports games and GTA just ain't my thing, and I feel strangely indifferent about the FF series as of late...

It's the first Next-Gen consol game on my list. Why?

The games.

The FUCKING games.

Devil May Cry 4. Armored Core 4. Sonic The Hedgehog. MAYBE Avalon. ALL the Final Fantasy games that you KNOW will be on it...yea, you see my point.

I could care less about what features it comes with, honestly. It's all about the games, IMO.

Because they have to reach a larger market. And that market means having parents who only really shell out that kind of cash once a year.

The better off you start, the better off you are.

Delaying 6 months?!?!? That majorly stinks! I'm already angry at the delay to May for Heroes 5 and now this wait?!? If any game company pushes another game or system back, I solemnly swear that I will not buy that product. On the unknown dead guy buried in my garage's grave, so help me I will.

X360

THEN!
PS3...

Damn...

Hey, SE, be HAPPY that you're having to wait until May for HoMM5. Apaprently it needed the work (I didn't download the demo... not trusting Star Force. I'm gonna buy the game, not install it, then wait for a cracked version to show up)

I don't see how anyone can list anything other than the Rev at number one, if what you're looking for is next-gen.

The ps3 is not next-gen. The 360 is not next-gen. They are big cardboard cut-outs with "next-gen" stamped on them that tip over easily when prodded. No, worse than that--they're big cardboard cut-outs which cost four hundred to six hundred dollars each just to look at. Then they fall over. They're money pits; shameless, too, much like the iPod.

If you're looking for a hardware upgrade, maybe those systmes will satisfy that (although the 360 continues to prove that it can play... inferior ports and...old Xbox games. And poorly, at that! But it's silver, ooh how I love silver). If you're looking for bringing the level of gaming up to a new level, Nintendo's where to be.

Despite all this, I remain level-headed--obviously I lean towards a certain thing, but Metal Gear Solid is awesome, so I'll definitely want to, at the very least, play and beat 4 on the ps3. It doesn't validate the system for me, though.
