Did he ever give Rose her cell phone back? Or is she going to whine about that for the next six episodes?

That went well. Didn't it?

Chances are The Doctor took it from him. No good letting him have any advance technology. Except his... little problem.

"You stupid, stupid humans" (said in a Northern accent)
Yeah, good, but not nice. Which would put him at what in the scale of D&D Alignment? Eh, probably True Neutral, or Neutral Good. Anyways, the most recent episode was odd, and, to be honest, the graphics for the brain things were a bit weird. But well done. I did like the ending, perfect timing, huh?

News on the new season not yet airing in America, blacked out for spoilers Doctor, David Tennent. The first episode of the new series was a bit cack, the public wern't sure if it was because of the Doctor or the story. The second episode proves it was the story. Kung-fu and Were-Wolfs, what else do you want?

No way, the first new season episode was fine. Kinda weird continuity due to the rushed pace, but David's Doctor is great.

Just a reminder to our friends in the UK and elsewhere who've already seen the series on Sci-Fi all the way through: please be courteous to new fans of the Doctor and put spoilers for the old season and the new behind a spoiler tag. SPOILER: especially anything to do with the regeneration and David Tennant/Tenth Doctor, because they don't seem to know anything about all that and it would be kind of fun for it to be a surprise for them. Once an episode has aired on Sci-Fi, it's fair game for full discussion. I kind of screwed this up myself by mentioning the Slitheen beforehand, but we'll try to keep a better lid on things from here on. Sound fair?
I thought the first new season episode felt kind of rushed, but that's nearly always true for any show, and certainly didn't have anything to do with David Tennant, who was just, well, fantastic. Tenth Doctor seems in a lot of ways like Nine after therapy and anti-depressants. Ten is a good person and a nice one, mostly, with the brash cheeriness of a person who is utterly lacking in the self-doubt that seemed to cripple Nine's decision-making capabilities at times. I think maybe this confidence comes from having been able at last, after the Time War and whatever trauma he suffered in it, to save someone he loves -- he couldn't do it for Gallifrey or his people, but he got it right for Rose, the one person who was anything like family to him after he lost everything else. In saving her he was finally able to accept that, for whatever reason, Gallifrey couldn't be saved -- and that it wasn't his fault. When the regeneration comes he seems at peace with himself at last, ready to go and be a new person. So Ten is really coasting on this high, it seems, which explains why he completely flips his shit whenever something or somebody riles him, as we saw in "the Christmas Invasion" and in this last episode. He gets so incredulous and angry about it, like he cannot believe this shit -- aren't people aware that this is his universe and they're only living in it?! Ten thinks he's god. It's exactly the way people who've been heavily depressed for a long time act when the anti-depressants kick in -- they feel so many orders of magnitude better they think they can do anything, often including going off the medicine because who needs that crap anymore, they have become Ozymandias, King of Kings. But in life as in Greek tragedy, hubris doesn't go unpunished -- so I wonder what's in store for cocky little Ten. Christopher Eccleston was such the perfect actor to play Nine, with his IMDB listing full of traumatized veteran roles. And I firmly believe that David Tennant is perfect for Ten, as adept as he is at blending the charming and the diabolical, often in the same performance. I really can't wait to see where Ten goes and how Mr. Tennant gets him there along the way. And next episode, goddamn werewolves in the time of Queen Victoria! Probably Billie Piper in a corset yet again! RAD.
