Actually, I think telling them not to steal, or not to hire thieves, is probably well within our right as consumers. Beyond that, yeah, they certainly deserve to have their ideas put into action before people go around dismissing then as totally useless.

I've been under the impression that many of the changes to airport security have been caused by Mandates and laws issued from the government. Can someone please find a source that says one way or the other? From what I've heard from speeches on television on the news, Bush has implied that his administration made the changes to protect us.
anything sourced from a reliable source online will be accepted as proof either way, as I'm confused now. |

As par airport security, I think it should be broadened to a more international scale. But some aspects of it should be relaxed a bit. The worst is the profiling that goes down. On a flight chain from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Cairns, Australia I went through 8 airports total. I had a "random" search at 6 out of the 8 airports. Why? Because I'm Arab and the other airports were in Sydney and Cairns. At every airport involving America I had my bag searched, my cameras wiped down for explosive residue, and searched by a security guard. The profiling needs to stop.

I accompanied my uncle to New York last weekend for a pharmacists convention. My local airport in Puerto Rico is not only opening our bags, robbing us blind and practially leaving us in our birthday suits, They are taking every single medicine you have and throwing it in the garbage can. This is just wrong. A friend of mine needs to take insulin; Imagine if he has to travel and they throw it out. Where the hell is he gonna get more?! This is supposed to be downright illegal but somehow it isnt!

Just wanted to throw this potential grenade:
Muslims now face tougher secuirty At least in Britain. Part of me is thinking "Good idea", the other part is "Wow, racial profiling, didn't we try to get rid of that?" Oh well, I guess that's what happens when your race and religion are most well known for blowing stuff up.

Also....I feel like the reactionary way that airport security the world-over is forced to deal with this terrorist threat is bullshit. It's not that they're doing anything wrong (well...in a general, "we're trying to keep shit safe" way), it's just the way they seemed forced into it. And. That. Blows. I'm glad that they caught these guys, and I'm glad at the moment that there's all this crazy security in place. I just hope that a) water on planes starts to cost less with increased volume of purchases, and that b) people remember that little thing called "a book," that was there to entertain you long before laptops, and that is still allowed on planes. 9 hours on a plane blows, yes, but you can get through some serious reading in that time span. Or napping. That's a full night's sleep right there. On a side note: has anyone ever seen PCU? The movie's alright, but there's a great moment, where one of the guys says that he put dog bones in his friend's backpack when they were coming back from Spring Break. "The dogs went wild!" I've always wanted to try that.
