Nah, I really don't see FFXIII itself going outside the PS3. A spinoff maybe, but not FFXIII itself. I know you geeks really want it to happen but it probably won't. Especially since they were building it from the ground up for the PS3.

I always thought FFXIII might get ported to 360 a couple years down the road, not right away.

I sorta think its gonna be a Wii thing, not a 360 thing, I just do. Maybe like Umbrella Chronicles where you play certain segments with the Wiimote.

Ew, I just threw up in my mouth a little. Graphics were always an important part of the FFs for me, and a Wii port would sufficiently wreck that, I'm sure. No, I'm positive!
So if it has to port, let us hope it's the 360? |

Even still...graphics are an important part of Final Fantasy? The thought seems somewhat strange to me.

Yeah. My friends, who had SNES refused to play Final Fantasy 5 (one of the best!) because of its "clunky" graphics.

Personally, I think if you're playing games solely for the graphics, you're missing the point of games themselves. If it looks nice, that's a bonus, if not, judge the game on how good it is as a game. I'd still buy FFXIII for the Wii, despite the assumable graphical hit. Of course, that could be because I don't want to buy a 360 at this point.

Really, the Wii could easily blow FF12's grahics out of the water(looking at my two (and soon probably three, damn you CAPCOM) copies of RE4, the Gamecube could). Sure it wouldn't be super happy high resolution but it would still be far better looking than the last one.
Still not good for Sony at all.

This news is really huge, I mean Final Fantasy really is the heart and soul of playstation now that it's no longer exclusive I don't see how they will survive a hit this hard. That's the equivalent of saying "The wii sales are awful... oh and Legend of Zelda just went multiplatform". I don't want to be the one saying it's over, but in all honesty I have no idea how Sony is going to make it through this. I'll be really impressed if they do... but jeez, final fantasy not exclusive... wow.
Well, maybe a lot of good will come of this, maybe Sony will keep their head above water and start producing more and more good first party games and stop being so dependent on third party to carry their system. If the system wasn't so expensive and they weren't taking such a huge lose I'd say they could do it, but considering they keep losing money every system they make and haven't sold enough games to cover the lose I don't see how this is going to work out. Even if Sony stays a float I don't see them ever having the authority with the ps3 that they did with the ps1 and ps2.

And is there any particular thing I can say to make the thought seem less strange for you? Final Fantasy games have, since 7, for me, always been pushing the graphical envelope. While a lot of RPGs are content with their 2D graphics, or their cell shading, or what have you, I've always seen the FFs (and make no mistake, I'm sure there's others too, that isn't the topic of discussion) improving their engine and well, making the pretty standard RPG fare much more pleasing to the eye. 8 improved drastically on 7, 9 on 8, 10 on 9, skip 11 because screw MMOs, 10-2 even improved on 10, and 12 improved once more. Given we've experienced another new generation AND the wider spreading of HDTV, I'd say I do expect a pretty huge upgrade for 13. Given some of the vague trailers, I might get what I want...but...It might be too early to tell. Quote:
Also, games are for entertainment. If visuals entertain me, so be it, a graphical game could do its job with me. As it stands, visuals alone don't sell games for me, but since this is an open discussion, I would rather choose a more graphically pleasing Final Fantasy game over a less graphically pleasing one, i.e. an Xbox 360 port over a Wii port. I might bitch about the control scheme too; I see an RPG as a sit down comfort game, something the Wii definitely struggles at compared to the other two competitors. |
