I wouldn't expect you to be sick of it. ALttP is easily the best game in the series.

My personal canon is that each Zelda game is a retelling of the same legend. Zelda is the myth and legend of some land that may make more sense than the timeline does. We have the flood myth, even, which pervades every culture.
But if you want a timeline, I say Ocarina, Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Link to the Past, Zelda 1, Zelda 2. Ocarina shows Ganon, and how he comes to be imprisoned in the Sacred Realm. Mask obviously is a sequel. Wind Waker probably comes about as a result of Link's trek to Termina, hence the Hero did not come. Then we have Twilight Princess. A different take on Ganon's arrival in the Sacred/Twilight/Dark Realm/World, but with the same basic result. I don't know, maybe Arbiter's Grounds is where Ganon was sent some time in between WW and TP. There's probably a missing chapter. TP has Ganon starting to possess people, and Link to the Past has a more refined version of it (rather than the batshit insane Zant). Either way, I would not actually mind a futuristic Hyrule, but it's so... Midgar. Zelda relies on wide open fields and GREEN and nature. This futuristic Hyrule looked too confined and artificial. A startling commentary on the times, perhaps, but not my Hyrule.

I wonder what would happen if they took it even further back in time. You could fight with stones and whatnot. Battle dinosaurs. Raptor instead of horse.

How would you guys feel about Zelda going on hiatus for 7 years or so while Aonuma's team dusted off Kid Icarus for a game or three? The idea makes so much sense to me that I'm sure it won't happen.

That's the most brilliant idea I ever heard. Let's put a moratorium on what may very ell be Nintendo's most popular property to make a sequel to a crappy NES game.
Don't defend it like I'm ignorant. I know it's crappy. Worst $5 I've ever spent thanks to the Virtual Console. How about they stop with the Mario to make some Gyromite sequels? That sound good to everyone? For the record, if they could make a Kid Icarus sequel that's fun, I'd play it. But not at the cost of another Legend of Zelda.

Interesting. So how important to you is the Zelda IP itself? I said Aonuma's team, which I believe implies an action-adventure game of the same quality and scope as a Zelda title. Would this not satisfy simply because it isn't Zelda?
Also, Kid Icarus may not have aged as well as Metroid or Zelda but it was well regarded in it's day. Flaws in a game made over 20 years ago should have little bearing on how good a sequel made today could be. For example, modern Zelda does not require you burn every bush and and bomb every flat surface then randomly punish you with a "door repair fee". And modern Metroid has an auto-map. |

What would be the point? Let's bring back Ice Climber too! And Clu Clu Land and Balloon Fight!
Actually, those last three games were at least playable.

So... im the only one here that thinks that after Ocarina, if all the other zelda names were launched with other titles (not Zelda games) they woudnt sell well at all?
