Nope. After seeing the reaction here I'm thinking the same thing, Bellsouth Minion. I guess brand name trumps all.

And Zilla, the point would be to have another quality action-adventure game with a fresher design than Zelda. Seriously, a character who's growth is characterized by gradually improving his flying abilities would be cool. The hiatus, which from recent Aonuma and Miyamoto interviews is likely anyway, would allow console Zelda to incubate until Nintendo can offer something more interesting than A Link to the Past 3D V.

It was four years between Adventure of Link and A Link to the Past and five years between Link's Awakening and Ocarina of Time. Since then the most we've gone without a new Zelda game is two years. There's always been one in development which has made it harder and harder to remain interested. Minish Cap and Twilight Princess had a real lack of creativity and I barely finished them. Zelda's being run into the ground a la Mega Man, which I'd rather not see.

yeah pretty much... When you buy a game with Zelda in the title you know what to expect. Puzzles that require an IQ of around 80 to solve, bosses that will always require you to use the weapon you acquired in that dungeon in some clever way in order to defeat them, and ganon kidnapping Zelda and you having to kill him before he rapes the light world.

Except in Twilight, that game was fucking hard.

And wind waker was the stupidest thing ever.

Majora's mask was awful in every aspect that Mcdonalds is unhealthy.

Overall I think that Ocarina and Twilight were the best with the SNES game in a close third.

I just like the idea of Miyamoto pulling the greatest prank in gaming history by confirming this video to be official concept art and early designs.

Then saying a week later, through laughs, nah, I was just fuckin with you.

So I'm a rabid fangirl of the series, I guess, but every incarnation of Zelda I've played, I've loved. I haven't played any handheld ones aside from Link's Awakening and Four Swords though, but still, saying that you know what to expect from a Zelda game is like saying you know what to expect from Pitfall, Metal Gear, Mario, Mario Party, Bomberman, etc. Any series has a trademark formula behind it.

Of course, delicious innovation is always awesome. I do think it would be great to see a new method of approaching Zelda, but it's kind of like StarCraft, where the original stuff is so good, you wonder if it can be topped. And Majora's Mask is essentially Brood War, which is why I liked that game quite a lot. I may like it even more than Ocarina of Time, just because it feels like it has more oomph to it in terms of gameplay. The story was a little weaker, but that's to be expected in any game that lacks the Triforce and Gannon.

Link's Awakening was fantastic considering they had the original Game Boy to work with.

There were times back on the Game Boy when I really had to tip my hat to Nintendo - I've still been amazed that they could cram the entire game of Pokemon Red/Blue, Link's Awakening, and other such hits onto such a tiny little four-AA game console.

I just wanted to add that the ending to ALttP tells us that the Master Sword is never drawn again, which would make sense if it were the last one before the original, since that Link didn't use it.

I don't see why. They're all great games in their own right. Unlike everyone else, I actually enjoyed the travel aspect to Wind Waker, and I'm especially liking Twilight Princess. I just tend to completely ignore the ones that have nothing to do with Ganon.

I wonder what would happen if they took it even further back in time. You could fight with stones and whatnot. Battle dinosaurs. Raptor instead of horse.
Link would draw the Master Stone... from a bigger stone.

That illustrates the problem, I think. That Zelda has a formula rather than a theme. If the first game set the theme then there is a lot of wiggle room. But everywhere you see Zelda discussed you see lists of what must/should be in a Zelda game and what it should look like, and that narrows things down a lot. If the formula is deviated from then there is a great wailing and gnashing of teeth.

And we all know how that went.

Come on squarenix I already played Devil May Cry.

I actually said that I would have no problems with a Kid Icarus sequel. I was merely pointing out that expecting Nintendo to stop a highly successful franchise to bring back a really old one is silly.

Why can't we have both Zelda and Kid Icarus, is what I was saying.
