How about 'quin-a' like quill... only with an n? That's how I always pronounced it... not sure where you'd get the e sound.

Also, it's like John Locke, the Enlightenment philosopher who believed in the justice of acquisition (irony, hoho!)
What about... Iifa Tree? Eefa?

I have a friend who insists that Locke is pronounces low-key. I just tell him, "It's LOCK, LOCK YOU IDIOT!" Some people...anyway, for Quina, I say it Queen-a, with a long "i" sound, even though that's probably wrong. At least I'm not like my friend who would say something dumb like Q-wine-a.

Quina is one of those things that you have to consult the creators on.
And when you do, you get: Quee-na. I checked the official Japanese site and it says: Kueena Kuen (Quen is his/her/its last name). pwned.

When I first read Gau's name, I read it as Gua. Since then, I've been pronouncing it 'Gwah'.

Oooh... am I probably going to get flamed for this but...
When looking at these names I typically choose to totally ignore the original Japanese, or what I "should" be. I take the names as they are and pronounce them phonetically, or in certain cases where the thing in question is a well known non-phonetic, then as that. As makes sense. I'm English, I speak English, I am culturally geared towards a certain pronunciation and am not going to disregard this in the name of a translation which is by its very nature flawed in any case. Thus: Shiva: Shee-va Reina: Ray-Na Gau: Gow Locke: Lock And so on. |

"You're."
It's Veevee. The Japanese site lists it as 'bibi.' There is no 'ih' in japanese, and if they were trying to make one, they would most likely use the 'e' sound to simulate it. i can only be a long i, so Beebee.
