A Threat to the District

I know that they weren't so hot in CoM, but Sora doesn't remember any of his time in the castle, so that can't be why they are bad in KH2. I haven't really played CoM though, (I have it, I borrowed it from my cousins, and have yet to play it much), so I can't really comment on what happens in it.

To be fair, the fanfiction and fanart community have gone at great lengths to celebrate how Sora gets all teary and emotional at the first sight of Riku.
Also; what the hell was with that 'plot twist' at the end? Seriously, Riku gets Ansem's body and is all emo over it? It could have been great but the twists' setup was "Call me Ansem" at the beginning then "ZOMG I'm not Ansem, I'm Riku!" Yet another "Could have been" turning into "But it wasn't." Also, here's the info on all the Disney-ification to everything. I mean being totally fair, the game was great during the very beginning and the very end. Riku joining your party with the Darkness keyblade and you and him kicking Xenahort's ass then chopping buildings in half with the crazy bike Gradius escape scene, I mean all of this was awesome. It's just getting there that was boring, plot wise.

It was probably more about the collateral damage they did while looking for Kingdom Hearts. And fuck it, I'm not paying for FM+ even if it comes here. Quote:

Well, here's something: Whenever I read a book or play a game that's a sequel to another, I always have a feeling on how familiar everything seems. It's cool. I remember when I started playing KH2, more exactly, the point where you start controlling Sora. I liked how his fighting style had changed ( even if it was only a bit ), his spells got different, he got taller ( and they actually comment on it like, ONCE ) and since his VA got older and they didn't go and hire someone else with a familiar voice to KH1 Sora, it was awesome. Sure, there were a lot of problems in the plot, but I liked it.

Ah yes, Xaldin, the hexa-wielder of spears. Saïx was also pretty awesome, with the whole crazy berserk power of doom and all.

So basically, everyone hates KHII because of the storyline. Now I understand how I could like both games; it's because I don't really care about story when I'm playing a videogame.
But this somehow implies that everyone likes the storyline of KHI. Again, this is strange to me because, honestly, I don't think either game has a good storyline. KHI's plot is really simplistic, and the whole point behind the plot of KHII is that it makes absolutely no goddamn sense whatsoever. (Yes, I did pick up on that when I played it.) Quote:

KHI's storyline doesn't try to pass as generic animu crap badly mixed with Disney overtones of friendship and the power of love, number of mentions of the word "darkness" aside.
