I would have to say that breath of fire: dragon quarter (V) got the shaft as well. The whole presentation was really innovative, to the point where I think it turned a lot of people off. The battle system is an improvement over the traditional turn based system, and the dragon counter is particularly interesting, if a bit scary at first.

As far as Worms Armageddon goes, when I was in the dorms at my college, we used to have games with 6 teams from guys in my hall. When someone threw a holy hand grenade, you could hear the "alleluias" echo down the hall followed closely by various 4-letter words one shouldn't repeat in mixed company. Good times, good times.

Of course Dragon Quarter is a PS2 game.

Also: are there Lunar games that haven't been released in America? (besides remakes and such) I haven't heard.

You know, I like Chrono Cross quite a bit myself, but there is one big, glaring flaw in it.

It really shouldn't have been tied into the Chrono Trigger storyline. That is what killed it for people. It had no chance at all to live up to CT. And, in the end, the entire game was to tie up one small, unresolved storyline from the original. No, Chrono Cross should not have been a 'Chrono' game, but rather it's own game. It would have been better liked that way, if it had been. You can rework the Crono Trigger-related parts into something else rather easily. You'd just have to put some more backstory into the game.

Ahem. My two cents, my opinion. Anyway, moving on.

A game that's often talked down, but is really great? Well, Wild Arms comes to mind. A lot of people think (or at least used to) that it was crapl. One of my friendsdid, too (he said he had played it before). Anyway, I lent him my copy, and a couple of days later, he comes up to me, and said he took back all the bad things he said about Wild Arms.

Nope, all five games have been released in the US. This includes both Sega CD games, and both of their PSX remakes, plus Lunar Legend for the GBA, which was essentially an alternate version of The Silver Star.

And, as for downplayed games that I liked. I don't really know... I don't usually buy downplayed games because I'm poor white trash and can't afford to spend money on things that are probably going to be crap. I suppose I'll toss out FFX-2.

The irony is that I can remember being dissapointed that Shining Force wasn't a straight RPG like Shining in the Darkness had been. Back when I first heard about Shining Force that is. I wonder if I'm one of the only people who actually played Shining in the Darkness before Shining Force?

Yeah, I say CC isn't as good as Trigger, in multiple fields besides just the story, but I still think all of it is good and although it has very little story connecting to Chrono Trigger, its pretty good (although not the best or anything). It did incrperate more of an original story at the end of CC, with the CC Device, but whither you think it can pass as a connection to Chrono Trigger is up to you.

I think they should have continued the Chrono games, if only to make more games like Chorno Cross with LOTS of sidequests, fun and original battle systems and evolving characters. But since all the, in my opinion, best people who worked on the Chrono games have left Squenix, I guess its for the best that a CT game isn't make. I'd probably become more of a FF game than a CT game.

I don't think you can really accuse me of that considering that most of my post was explaining why I dislike FF8, and there are other posts here and at the TWC explaining why I don't like FF1, and how I continually fall asleep during it. Not to mention that I haven't played any of the japanese games, because it's just not worth the trouble, and, although I like FF7, I'll be the first to admit that it's graphics were poor at best (other than the CGI movies), and that it is extremely overhyped being 'average' for a final fantasy.

But... it's ok if you're too insecure with your masculinity to enjoy a game that has three girly girls, obvious charlie's angels spoofs (which made me laugh when I first saw them), and a battle system that incorporates dressing them up. Just because it's 'girly' and anything but serious doesn't mean that it's not 'fun'. The amount of rampant hate for that game that, when you dig into it, comes straight down to it being 'girl power' and having 'pretty polly dress up' as part of the game for a VAST majority of the people that don't like it makes me think that no one would even own a PS2 if Sony had decided to release it with bright pink plastic and have flower shaped buttons... which is just sad.

Besides, I already admitted the story was lacking... but this isn't really a story driven game. It's not even suppose to be serious from what I can tell. Half of the plot are little 'fun' games and sidequests that bear no purpose except to keep players amused, and the rest is just kind of there to give you something to do, with very little emphasis being put on it.

Well, Krylo... I really have to question your argument when you claim you keep falling asleep durring FF1 and yet scold people for not liking FFX-2 because it isn't plot driven. I agree that a game can be fun dispite many things, including story and theme, but it seems somewhat contradictory in that way.

Unless you mean you're falling asleep durring FF1 because of the battle system. But then, it was the first FF game done on a small budget and so yeah... Still, FFIV wasn't much different from I in my view (in terms of battle system).

But anyway, back to PSX games. -_- I'm probably gonna make another thread for another system after this one gets closed. NES will eventually be one of them.
