Yeah, and isn't the U.S.' policy of P.O.W.s to treat them like our equals? Remember when we Jessica Lynch was captured? Remember the controversy over that? We're hypocrites if we demand our people don't be tortured, but then we torture their people.

Let me tell you something, kid. You go down to the local recritment center, you sign your ass up for boot camp and go to Iraq, get captured, and tell them, "Hey, beat me. Torture me. I'm your enemy." Okay, nothing I've seen so far has convinced me that the Geneva Convention needs to be specifically re-written to apply to terrorists(I'll explain later). The way I see it, the Geneva Convention is a standard to which international justice should use as a base guideline. It should be adhered too regardless of what crimes have been commited by them. Otherwise, we get into a situation where people do whatever they want to do, and end up with prison abuse scandels.

It doesn't matter how they treat us in return, we're supposed to take the higher moral ground here.

I will grant that, because of the threat of terrorism, standards for the use of intimidation & allowed interogation tactics should be considered. But to suggest throwing away the Geneva Convention is a huge mistake. An agreement consisting of so many parties is nearly unheard of, and just like the US Constitution, it should be a springboard for anything new.

Basically, the statement: THE GENEVA Conventions are so outdated and are written so broadly that they have become a sword used by terrorists to kill civilians I see as utterly false & misleading. Sure, the Geneva Convention might keep us from torturing terrorists to death in order to gain possibly vital information, but I very much doubt we've always got it right. Even if only 1% of those people we arrest under the guise of terrorism are innocent, that's still a good reason to treat these people with some fair & balanced treatment & hold some standards to their treatment.

First if ya cant tell by the name I am in the army. Now that I cleared that up, what happened in Ab-Ugarb (IRAQ for gods sacks sorry I cant spell Iraqi...ya) Is...complicated. These insurgents need to be killed whereever we find em. Was what we did to em torture? Ummmm....yes and no. What we did (at least how I understand it) was force these guys to look like Jack-asses so that way their buddy would talk. All I know about are the pics of that female mp (O ya I'm also an M.P.) with the ball pointing and whatnot. If ya'll civis know more then I do about something else (Like makeing these guys jack off on each other?) well plz inform me. I think what we did to these guys was...going a bit too far. But if what they can get from these animales means a buddy of mine is going to stay alive then so be it. The U.S. and its allies (Hell...not even all of em.) Are the only countries who follow the Geneva convention. Think about that for a sec. We are not going to war with Britan or Japan anytime soon. The guys who hate us and who want to kill us have already shown a complet disregard for any kind of mercy. Should we show them any? I'll tell you guys the truth, any Fuc! nut I see bleeding on the street is going to get a nine to the face and chest. If he lives after that...then I'll patch him up. Upset? Ahhh poor baby guess what...Thats SOP. In a hasty attack, as we advance to the LOA (limits of advance) we shoot ANYONE on the objective and double tap the wounded. Once we hit the LOA the badguys get kicked in the nuts (no joke) and if their still breathing THEN we patch em up and take em home. Its late here in Iraq and I know I may not have made a point but lets just say Its...hard on us when eveyone is makeing a bigger deal about some scumbag POWs then when my friends are getting killed every...day by these people.

look i am thirteen so i dont know much about this but here it goes. i think that what happened over in iraq was totally against the geneva convention. but i know were he is coming from by killing them but i do think that it is not a good thing to do. and if i was in iraq i would probably do the same thing but would be consumed by guilt.

What I was describing was something called a hasty attack. Look at it this way Mr Military. Bad guys have some land we want. They ant playing nice and shoot at us when we try to take it. So we take our element (Company is the largest you would use in a Hasty) and split it up. One half, from far away, shoots the bad guys (the objective) and tries to kill all of them (See grown ups call that war sweetheart). The rest of us march at the objective (not really) And kill whoever is left. If we walk past some dude whos still breathing and has a gun close by we kill him (Why? Go watch "We were Soldiers") Once we think everyone is dead we pull a 360 and make shure. Bad guy still alive? Good for him! We patch him up (Again if he ant trying to kill us) and take him home, name him, teach him some tricks, whatever. And what about that last thing with the Geneva convention? Its true you know. But hay your a smart kid, You can figure it out Ace
