Oh damn I was about to start a thread on this!

Yeah I've been playing. If anybody likes to see my experiences, check out the post I made on me brand-new forum for me clan--The Asian Sensation Plus One Caucasian (guess who the cauc is? :P). This is simply so I don't have to repost the images. I'm not very far, really. Because I'm a wimp. (if the images don't work, imgspot is up to something. just wait a while, should work again. i gotta find me permanent webspace god dammit)

I did see you could kill some civilians/guards, though. I felt bad. Heh, this coming from a guy who's insanely evil in KotOR...but I decided to go through the game good, if not just for the first, non-monster part of the game. Funny thing is, though, I tested, and the moment you punch corpses, as I said in the thread, they disintegrate. Into a horrible, horrible skeleton.

Also, try punching everything. I do

You know, I regret being taken in by people badmouthing the game waaaay before it came out. I think that's really the kind of game I could love to play, I like the visual style from what I saw... I might just buy it! (which is unusual, trust me)

Bottom line is, this game is absolutely phenomenal.

It is without a doubt a defining moment in gaming history. I would gander to say every skeptic would summarily shut up if they sampled Doom3 for an hour.

If I could categorize it, I would say this is the first true shining example of a survival horror. I think it encompasses the basic mechanics just as well as, if not better than all previous S-H genre games, and installs them into the most masterfully realized setting concieved to date. It's truly an experience that cannot be fully understood until you've played it by yourself in a dark room in the middle of the night with the surround-sound system cranked as loud as humanly possible before your landlord swiftly evicts you.

If you're concerned about performance... Well, my rig (Which you can observe in the hardware thread in General) ran it almost flawlessly on MQ/800x600 with NO AGP acceleration whatsoever. I finally updated my BIOS so as to allow the use of AGP 4X, and now it runs on HQ/1024x768 at around a constant 40-50fps. This is with a sub-200 vidcard and otherwise mediocre equipment. Hopefully that will put it in perspective for those too fearful of the game's requirements... Even on LQ this game will look unreal. All you need to run it is a decent CPU (1.5Ghz should be fine) and at least a GF3/GF4MX series or better.

Like I said on TASPOC, I heard defragging was the difference between good and bad. I have a 1280x1024 monitor, but I'm running it at 1024x768 (obviously--otherwise I'd die). It's a shame, I hate blurriness. Im using the 'high' settings, and it skips slightly. Donno. It's a shame, I know it's more beautiful than what I'm seeing. Still, it's good. But I can't help but notice some of the blurry, aliased textures sometimes. Darn ;/

I'll post my comp specs morrow when I'm less tired.

But if you're worried about vid card, i'm using a radeon 9700 with omega 2.5.36b drivers (best ones out there! 3rd party, but with support from freakin' ati!), and like I said, pretty decent.

I ordered the game on Amazon and it should be here by the end of the week. I'm really glad you guys are liking it also. Yeah, PC Gamer said masterpiece of the art, so that's what I'm expecting, dammit!

omega's aren't as good as the 4.7 ati's i've noticed. i've decided that you can go higher quality but smaller resolution.

I've been lusting after this game ever since I heard it first announced years ago. Alas, my computer is 4 years old and doesn't stand a chance of being able to run it, and I don't plan to get a whole new system until I *need* one, so I guess I'm just gonna have to wait for the Xbox port.

I've been enjoying all the reports and screenshots. Can't wait to see how my ol' buddy the Cyberdemon has been updated.

Hm. I've been having trouble getting it to run. It's not an issue of my system (yet anyway), just that it seems to be completely occluding the graphics from the game. I get sound, music, hell, I can even play it to a degree. Just no pretty visuals. A bunch of white and blue boxes for me.

Hopefully, a re-install will solve this issue. Otherwise, I might just have to kill somebody.
