I guy reached for my ass with his hand, and I dodged.
I reached for his nose with my fist, and he didn't dodge.
I tolerate gays so long as they don't come on to me.

I find that completely unwarranted. Okay, so it was unwanted physical contact, but you could have told him politely not to do it instead of punching him. If it was unwanted touching from a female, would you have punched her?

And Dragonsbane, I will challenge most people to honestly put their hands on their heart and say that they haven't even CONSIDERED a relationship/sex/touching/whatever of someone of the same gender at SOME point in their lives.

I agree with that one. The people who haven't considered it have the fact that homosexuality is so bad that they refuse to consider it instead of allowing feeling to overcome their "rationale". I think everyone starts Bi, but then through mindset they determine who they "want". The same way people choose someone with a "better" body over someone they truely connect with. Its mostly cosmetic preferance (at least IMO).

"I haven't ever considered a relationship/sex/touching/whatever of someone of the same gender at some point in my life."

Sounds about right, and I did give it some thought. Well - okay, nothing serious. Me and some of my friends have been known for jokingly hitting on each other, does that count?

Doesn't mean I mind if someone's gay either. I mean mind at all. As far as I know, none of my friends is gay, but if they were, I wouldn't view them as "the gay one" from then on, and I sure as hell wouldn't judge them by it. Frankly, I have much more important things to do than concerning myself with the sexual orientation of a person I have no romantic interest in. Everyone's got their own life and way.

I can't find anything to disagree with in that. As superficial that the difference between the sexes is to begin with, people manage to focus their preference on superficial alterations done because of tradition, instead of true qualities of a genre. For women it is make-up, long hair, no body hair at all. (from the ads of the movie "Without a Paddle", I can deduce that retching would be considered an understandable reaction for men facing a woman with unshaven legs. I have yet to be met with that, never fear).

Also, I can't count how many times I've heard people of both genres complaining about what they see as an universal personality trait of the other sex, a crippling character flaw that makes them unbearable. Which pretty much means they've been going only through looks (since these have to compensate for the person they can't stand) or what they feel they're supposed to do.

On an unrelated note, I am now infamous in the forum reputation system to a small, irritating degree, and not even from my total lack of debate etiquette.

Hey, ain't nothing wrong with hairy legs. I shaved my legs for the first time EVER a couple of months back. And I've been with Shiney for two years. They weren't actually hairy, as such, but hey. It's all about personal preference. Some men actually LIKE their women hairy. (God forbid underarms...)

ANYWAY. People are allowed to have their likes and dislikes. It's okay to say 'I prefer males over females' or vice versa. It is, however, not okay to HATE someone for their preference in gender. It runs alongside hating someone for religion, color, nationality - it's just stupid.
