It's the future (I don't really have specific time.) and Magic and High tech, think Trek/Wars tech but don't feel limited to those shows, coexist and none to happily either. All out wars have yet to occur but magic user stay clear of the higher tech and tech user stay clear of the more complex magics. There are people that use both but since the masters of tech and magic shun the use of the opposing force it's quite hard to get your hands on complex magic and high tech at the same time. This was actually for the best but no one knew that until one fatefull day. An over zealous scientist dabled in forces of nature and magic that should never have been probed seperatly much less at the same time. His brother was a great mage but had died recently and the scientist had gotten his hands on some books he shouldn't have ever seen. He attempted to use the magic of the books to aide in an expirment in quantum mechanics. It did not go as planned and the scientist was split into two parts.
One part good and one part evil, both with the power to bend cause and effect to their wills but only in small ways. At first he did not now that the copy which had been spawned was actually evil. Together they discovered their new power and developed a way to amplify it. As soon as the amplifier was completed the evil destroyed the lab and research. He tried to destroy the other good half but the good half had enough power to survive. After the bad half fled the good half put out an ad for adventurers willing to aide in the capture of a criminal. This is where you come in to track and catch the evil copy who has taken up destruction and a quest to rule at all costs. Equipment: Bio: Remember people keep this realistic it ain't Calvinball; some humor is ok and encourged a bit. Oh and feel free to bring in just about anymagic style you wish, same goes for tech but don't go to crazy. Sidenote: I know I'm a little late with this but I've been very busy. well I am game. Does the evil copy use both magic and technology?
Name: Vevron Age: 32 Alignment: Both though leans more towards magic Apperance: about 6ft with brown spikey hair. He wears a red head band and a techno-organic lence over his left eye. He wears a black t-shirt with read trim. Over his right shoulder is a tattered brown cloak. The cloak conceals a wide range of blasters, explosives, and other gadgets. On the right of his belt he keeps his high-tech gear while his left are his magical potions and components. Sticking out to his left shoulder is a broadsword. He wears old tan pants and boots and his hands are covered by black fingerless gloves. Also around his neck he wears a necklace with the eye of Anubis Main Power: Paladin/Magical gunman. He specializes in magically enhancing weapons Equipment: various explosives and other simple components both magical and technological. He has a lense he wears that can scan a wide range of the EM spectrum. He also carries, concealed by his cloak, a high-powered low fire rate hand blaster and a one shot beam weapon sniper rifle (though its rarely used) Bio: He is a master of both crafts and many weapons, but most are there incase he needs them. He relies mainly on his blaster and sword to fights. He takes whatever advantage he can and lives on his own moral code. Rittled with battle scars hidden under his clothes he is a hardened veteran that has seen far more combat then he wishes to recall. He has become cold and deattached though still has a warm heart. His work and duel allignment has forced him to live a solitary life. One day he sees an ad for adventurers. Realizing this was his chance to use his skills for something more important then a mere power struggles. Gathing his gear he headed towards the designated meeting place.

Age: 23 Alignment: Magic Appearance: Albino-white skin, yellow-dyes spiked hair with white tips, and various yellow lightning tatoos on visible flesh. Wears a yellow-trimmed leather jacket over a white T-shirt. His pants are black with yellow trim, as are his leather boots. Main Power: Electric Spells Equipment: Tazer Gauntlet, Computer Wristband Bio: Was supposed to be a tech major, but saw a magic-user in action during training. Since he had some knowledge in electronics, he worked toward lightning spells and become a potent yet self-taught electromage. Prefers to blast things, but can stimulate nerves or mess up electronics as well.

Sounds fun. Magic users can still use technology right? Just not the real high powered stuff?
Name: Zyro Arclock Age: 19 Alignment:Magic (who didn't see that coming?) Apperance: Long black hair, green eyes, 5'9", 160 lbs, wears black leather armor with a black cloak. Main Power: Wind spells. Equipment: Collapseable(sp?) double bladed pole, caltrops, wrist computer, grappling hook gun. Bio: Zyro is a kid with high aspirations. Naive when it comes to adventuring, he reads a lot of fantasy stories and wishes he could be as famous and powerful as the adventurers depicted in those stories. He took up a like of magic so as to pursue a similar path as those in his favorite books. He specializes in wind spells as those come most naturally to him. His parents are both scientists and disapprove of his chosen path. Not knowing where to start, he saw the bounty advertised and decided that would be a good place to start.

Name: Gordon Age: 32 Alignment: Tech Apearance: Just shy of 5' 11", 1/2 inch brown hair, brown short goatee, glasses (see equipment) 175 pounds, brown clothing covering thin, full body armor. Breath mask usually hangs from his neck. 'Power': The ability to drive just about anything. Equipment: Colapsing hoverbike: 120 mph one person, 70 mph two, about the size of a small motorcycle, colapses into a 2" thick, 15" wide, 2' long box, that goes on his back, and includes a a very sturdy helmet. Breath mask: Holds 45 min of compressed air, air filter, air compressor. Its mostly used while Gordon is driving his hoverbike (its hard to breath with air going 120 mph by your mouth) Glasses: 1-10x zoom, 20x light amplification GPS link, rangefinder, spedometer, altimeter. Note: He doesn't actually need them to see. Comlink: Rests in his ear, extends to his mouth, attached to his glasses, and is capable of patching into most networks, Spinfusor: Yes, this is from the Tribes world (the Vengance beta, to be exact). For those of you who don't know what it is, its a good sized gun that fires a blue, magnitized disk made of high explosives, total blast radius is 15 ft, deadly radius is 3 ft), range 4000 yards, accurate range of 1500 yards. Moves ~65 m/s (carries 100 disks in clips of 20. They compact into the size of a bottlecap) Pistol: 20 shot clip, underslung flashlight and aiming laser, range 250 yards, accurate range 75 yards, armor peircing rounds, 6.78 mm rounds (carries 4 clips) Grappling hook: 400 ft of cord, lifts 200 lbs at 4 feet a second, can't lift more than 1500 lbs, hook/rope can hold 9000 lbs when on the perfect surfaces. Toolkit: Holds tools capable of repairing just about anything that moves. Knife: Its sharp. Thats about it. Bio: Gordon is really nothing special. The only thing that really sets him apart from other mercenaries is his adaptability, driving skills, and superior equipment. In fact, its more his equipment than anything else that gets him through the day. Gordon knows this, and that's why he's got so much stuff. He's not an incredible shot (but he is a very good one), he's not incredibly strong, handsome, or smart. But he is a very good driver, one of the best. Most of his mercenarying involves him driving getaway vehicals. Edit: Added some stuff I forgot.

Age: 20 Alignment: Magic and Tech Apperance: 5'7, silver hair so shiny that it blinds opponents and allies alike, a TECHNICOLOR(tm) cloak draped on his body, wears pink clothes under that TECHNICLOR(tm) cloak. Main Power: Fire Spells and Magitek Armor, also is skilled in all things Tech. Equipment: TECHNICOLOR(tm) cloak - An ancient cloak which holds the power of 20th century color technology called TECHNICOLOR(tm). It changes color when the user wills it. Magitek Armor - A strange and obviously dangerous weapon, it was invented when Bran found an old robot shell, possibly a failed mechanical armor prototype. He used his uber-leet tech skills to working order, but he realised why it was dumped so uncerimoniously:the lack of a power source powerful enough to move the pile of junk. Having in possession at that time a few Magic crystals, he made an engine out of them and put it in that pile of nuts and bolts. The rest is history. One thing to note: it can be shrunk to the size of a shirt. And can be worn. And it is pink. Lightsaber - A wonderful blade made with the power of technology, it creates a blade of pure energy when the user wills it. Cuts through anything. Except another lightsaber. And shiny surfaces. 'Magic' Toolbox - Okay, there's nothing magical about this toolbox. Okay, I lied. It's a physical manifestation of a pocket dimension, where Bran keeps all his tools. Bio: One of the moost legendary outcasts of his time, Bran is actually hated by both sides. The creation of the Magitek Armor just increased his death threats tenfold. One of the few people who actually dabbles with magic and technology(and is very good at it), he is feared by both sides. Which is a shame. The descendant of a powerful archmage and Thomas Edison, he is a rare talent. He is, unfortunately, gay, but abhors the idea of same-gender relationships. Happy as a lark and clueless as a blank sheet of paper, he is happiest tinkering with equipment or learning a new skill. How he got himself into this mess: Being in jail for the umpeenth time for wandering aimlessly into a kindergarten, he was offerred lifetime jailtime or a suicide mission. 3 guesses which option he took.

Due to the fact he is mute he can't tell anyone his background (he wouldn't if he could).

Age: 27 Alignment: Tech Apperance: 6'11", raven Black hair. his body is covered in enhanced, reinforced Hexatanium armor. on his back is a prototype thruster/antigravity setup. the lower part of his face (Nose and mouth) is covered in a Hexatanium faceplate. both eyes are replaced with optical sensors. Main Power: only Serious damage will affect him. he can even lose limbs and keep coming. he's not invulnerable, just immune to pain. Equipment: Robocop meets terminator. Jetpack. left shoulder has a high-output miniature plasma linear cannon. Right shoulder has a microrailgun with armor piercing shells. right arm has a small Pulse cannon mounted on the forearm, left arm has a cutting laser. both are retractable into his arms. when not using any of aforementioned weaponry, he has a rapid fire laser rifle and an energy pistol. the Hexatanium armor plating is rated to withstand even a direct hit from a level 2 hadoken before needing repair. can withstand 15 tons pressure before cracking. he also has an energy shield he can use to fend off low level attacks for up to 5 minutes constant. However, the Armor also weighs him down a lot, requiring him to use thrusters to move anywhere faster than a walk. Bio: Endrai was a Class Omega criminal in his earlier days. wanted for 6,400 counts of murder, 500 counts of terrorism, Grand Larceny, Genocide, and 40 other major crimes, he was caught in one of his own precious antimatter bombs when it went off prematurely in Denzeren city. over 75 percent of his body mass was destroyed. he would have died, if a crime ring hadn't found him and put him in stasis. later on, the crime syndicate, figuring they could use him to further their own ends, encased his body in a Hexatanium exoskeleton. Hexatanium, a highly advanced alloy capable of withstanding incredible amounts of punishment. however, there was the problem that the joints of the exoskeleton were very weak in comparison. unfortunately for the overambitious crimelord, he underestimated Endrai's incredible thirst for blood. the moment the restraints were released, the Abomination crushed the man's head with one hand. taking control of the organization through brute force, he's upgraded his armor to include all the nice tidbits. WEAKNESSES Endrai is very powerful, but very slow when he isn't using the antigravity and thruster pack he wears, both of which take a serious toll on his interior power source, preventing him from using his built in weaponry. his joints are also relatively weakly armored, making it easy to de-limb him. |

Jinken I highly suggest you flesh out that sign up. Trust me it will help in the end. Even if you don't plan to use the name our talk about your past it is always better to have that prepared. It allows you to feel your character. If you know what his past is you can put yourself in his shoes better. It also helps other players interact with you better because they get a better sense of his personailty. Also, I would suggest a mode of commmunication or your going to get really isolated and not have much to do.
Also, magic requires energy to use. No effect can be kept up forever and physical exertion also effects duration. Magic is tied to you endurance. If your tired from fighting and/or running it will be harder to cast and maintain spells. Similarly after an intense and/or long use of magic you will be physicaly tired and weakened. This is the major reason the fusion of science and tech has not faded under pressure. There are things that magic can do easly that are really hard for science to do. The reverse is also true. It takes a certain kind of person to strike the right balance between the too forces. The matter is further complicated by the resistance of both sides to a merger. Magic users can tell if you use a lot of tech and tech users can tell if you use a lot of magic. So not only does one have to strike a good balance but one has to be vary persistant to become a powerful techno-mage. The bios have been good as a whole though. I'm going to give this until monday and set up the first chapter. (It might actually be Sunday it depends on how many people sign up.) |
