I completely agree. If they existed, I'd have a little miniature one for a pet. Cutenees

Also, watercolour pencil crayons are loads of fun. They're essentially pencil crayons, but you take a wet brush and brush over the area you coloured to get a watercolour effect, or you can dip the pencil in water and draw with that for watery lines. These you can usually only find at art supply stores and are pricey, but keep in them in mind. They're a nice investment ;D They come in metal boxes. Staedtler ones are good. Also, it you're looking for pencil crayons but can't find Prismacolours, get Staedtlers. They're great for art supplies. Last edited by pochercoaster; 09-21-2004 at 06:35 PM. |

[/not joking] 30 bucks does seem abit pricey, but if they are as good as you say, it should be worth it.Hmmm. The water colors sound fun, but messy. I'm not good with messy. Or anything that will run on me. Probably why I don't like to paint much. While I'm at it, anyone know of a good tutorial online(for coloring)? Don't stop with the suggestions though, I want to consider a few different options before I make a choice. |

I don't know any tutorials, unfortunately. Some advice: Press lightly. With dark areas, build up layers of the pencil crayon, still pressing lightly. For blending, shade in a bit of the area with one of the pencil crayons with even lighter pressure, then do the same with the other pencil crayon, overlapping a bit on the already coloured area. Switch between the pencil crayons until you build up a nice layer and it's all... blended-like. Also, go with your intuition when choosing colours. It's really tempting to throw in a bunch of colours just because they look pretty by themselves, but they're a mess when mixed. That sounded really stupid, but it is important You can try a search on colour theory on Google er something.

Thanks for the tips madhatter, if you don't mind, once I get to coloring, would it be okay to ask you questions? Granted, it might be a while before I feel I've experimented enough on my own, but still, its always nice to know there is someone you can ask if you need to.

I don't mind at all (although, I must say colour theory is not one of my strong points). I'm actually flattered you want to ask me questions.

For color theory you get a good idea about it from this one site.
Color Worm It's designed for kids but makes almost all the points possible in color. keep the guide lines in mind and it is hard to flub up too baddly.
