I believe the reason there is a decline in people doing good deeds, is because people tend to take advantage of them, become suspicious of their actions, or do something completely inane like Suing the individual. So people now days tend to only do a good deed if they are gauranteed something in return.
But there are people who don't care what they get in return. For instance: Last year a friend of mine and his wife were in a bad financial situation. I knew the feeling, because I have been there many times before. My friend had just taken a new job but wasn't expecting a paycheck for another week. I had just come into a good bit of money. I asked them how much they needed for groceries and gas to get them through the week. They were reluctant to take any money, but I gave them $200 and told them to pay me back whenever they could. A few months later, my friend went to pay me back. He had been saving the whole time to get the money. I told him to take the money and buy something for his wife. Yeah I could have used that money to buy something I wanted, but I already have everything I need, he didn't. I didn't gain anything from the situation, except maybe a closer friendship. "One question haunts and hurts too much. Too much to mention. Was I really seeking good or just seeking attention. Is that all good deeds are when looked at with an Ice cold eye. If that all godd deeds are then maybe that's the reason why no good deed goes unpunished." -- Elpheba from Wicked the Musical.

Thanks guys, I needed the input. See, I'm in Job Corps, and it can really cloud my judgment of the rest of the world. But, I'm glad to see that people still care enough to help for just the sake of feeling better about helping. Thanks again.
