Heh... I got that permanent retainer as well on my bottom front teeth. It feels wierd.

I never really flossed when I had my braces, or when didn't have braces for that fact. One of the reasons I didn't when I had braces was because I never could do it, it was just to hard. So I used mouthwash more often. I just brushed my teeth more often, not much of a hassle. Sometimes I forget that I had braces on until I went to get them tightened, holy hell did that bother me.

I guess my teath were really fucked up or something because at one point the orthodontist even considered surgery instead of braces (though now, I probably would have taken the surgery) because I have a huge overbite. So, at night I had this outer retainer that adjusted my teath at night, it didn't bother me at night when I first put it on, but in morning when I wake up, I could not move my mouth it was so sore. But, now those days are over for at least a year, I gave my braces and my removable retainer a big FUCK YO-- er... I mean a big goodbye. I never want to experiance those days again.

Ah...glory days.

If I remember correctly, I got braces the day after I broke my arm back in the day.

That was a bad week.

Seriously, though, back when I was younger, I wasn't all that great at brushing my teeth and such, but I came through braces okay. If you brush and use mouthwash, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Other than to beware of the brace-tighting, also be prepared to have the back of your lips be constantly raw, because they rub against your braces all day.

Definitely take Advil before you go. The people at my orthodontist had no sense of humanity. They'd poke and push and rub against my gums even when they were doing something simple. I remember I had a zit near my lip once. That hurt like hell. Thank God I'll never have to do that again. It doesn't hurt so much when they tighten the wires as when they change to a larger one. That sucks.

Fun fact: Listerine kills most of the germs in your mouth, but those bacteria that survive are resistant to Listerine, and reproduce to fill your whole mouth again within 30 seconds. So basically Listerine gives you 30 seconds of cleanliness, and then several hours of minty fresh bacteria.

I knew it all along! I bet it plants tiny recievers in your teeth so the CIA can hear your thoughts and control your mind as they please. But, eh... I never did like Listerine. A good substitute for it acid. It gives you the same feeling in your mouth and everything.

Wow... So is it worth it to have braces that long?

I'm glad to have straight teeth, but I didn't like the change that much. I would have preferred surgery - a couple of days of discomfort, hopefully no more.

Surgery would take longer to heal that a couple of days. Mabye a week. God that would be hard to eat. Can chew or pain. Can have hot soup or hot pain. Can't have ice cream or cold pain. No soda or carbonated pain. Water is the only thing. I'd starve. Anyways I had a choice to get braces a while a go. I'm wondering whether or not I should've said yes. Actually a long time ago. I think asking me when I was seven if wanted braces when I didn't like the dentist wasn't extally the best way to go.

I had to get four of my teeth pulled before I got my braces, my mouth bled like crap for several hours. Plus the doctor was violent with his tugs during the actual pulling. He actually put his foot on the chair and pulled. On the plus side I did get the laughing gas when I got the first two teeth pulled. That is so cool. I didn't get it the second time because we had already moved to Savannah and they don't do the laughing gas... sniffle...
