Kithar whispers to himself, "Do they think me a fool?" as the mages hurl forth their lightning bolt. He had expected this attack - indeed counted on it. He had known had intimidating the sudden addition of a summon spirit to the battle would be, especially a powerful one like Bahamut. This sudden act would disrupt the spells they had already laid, drawing power away from them. Their elementals had already dissipated and their storm was weakening. The effort of focusing their energy together would also leave them open to Bahamut's counter attack. Both beneath him physically and within him mentally he can sense Bahamut tensing for the coming blow.

Bahamut twists in the air, partially evading the lightning bolt but it still strikes him high on one shoulder with a deafening crack. Bahamut staggers in the air, the lightning bolt seeming to have stunned him and a muted cheer begins to come form the defenders on the castle's walls. But, a second later, he flaps his wings in a powerful downbeat to make up for the height he had lost and hovers some distance front of the tower. He is left with a circle of scorched flesh as a legacy of the attack but otherwise seems fine. Bahamut is known for flying in storms and he had braced himself against the attack. Both had reduced its effectiveness.

Bahamut hangs over the Gaian army, flapping his wings steadily to maintain his height and gives a roar, filled more with rage than pain. Then he launches a counter attack at the ones who had injured him. He arcs his neck, drawing in energy. Brilliant energy coalesces out of the air and flows mist-like into his open jaws where it concentrates into a glowing ball. Then, a few seconds later, he releases it - creating a massive beam of incandescent power that streaks towards the tower like the wrath of a god. It is Bahamut's mightiest attack - Mega Flare - and it looks set to blast away the entire tower in a single act of overwhelming destructive power.

Kithar can feel Bahamut's rage washing over him as he watches Bahamut's attack build. Those mages had bitten off more than they could chew when they had thought to deal with the King of Dragons. There is no way the mages can hope to evade the attack - form experince he knows that Bahamut's Mega Flare is quite capable of reducing the entire tower to rubble. Still, he must be careful. To help ensure Bahamut's success, he pulls his bow from his back and nocks it as he speaks mystic words, ready to loose a Fell Arrow to pick off the first mage to try and organise a defense.

OOC: One possibility depending on how destructive the mega flare ends up being is that the tower is destroyed but Tarathiel is carried off it to safety by Quetzacotl. It is Bahamut's strongest attack after all.

OOC: Not that easy, Arhra. XD

BiC:

*****Sir Karan*****

Sir Karan entered through the hidden backgate of the castle with only a handful of men he had managed to regroup from the disastrous encounter in the forest. Barely a dozen men, all torn and disheveled, a small percentage of the original number of men that first left the castle. He had early saw the dragon past by him, and recognized the rider atop the leviathan to be the summoner that had slain Elder Matakan.

Whoever they were out there that killed his men, they were powerful - perhaps too powerful. Sir Karan knew he had little time left. He must find Tarathiel.

*****Tarathiel*****

NO! Quezacotl's voice roared in Tarathiel's mind when the dragon readied itself for a devastating blast. At the precise moment when the attack was released, another blinding flash erupted from the idol, covering the entire tower section where the flare attack was aimed.

For a moment, Tarathiel had almost thought himself dead when the blindness reamined in his eyes. But soon after, he was proven wrong when vision returned to his eyes to see the entire tower covered with a shield of static energy. Although the shield had successfully protected Tarathiel and the mages from a certain and horrible death, it had not managed to protect the structural integrity of the tower from the blast. Even now, fires roamed the tower's rooftop, and Tarathiel could feel the tower beginning to fall.

"Get down!" Tarathiel told the mages. "The tower is no longer stable. We must move quickly before it tumbles down upon all of us!" The mages obeyed without a thought, their eyes already looking up on the roof with dread.

Tarathiel looked up to see the dragon rear up it's head, and he leapt for the bronze idol just in time before another, though lesser, flare rippled through the air, missing his head by inches.

Tarathiel, Quezacotl's voice sounded in his head again as he struggled to rise. Forget the dragon at this moment. You must return to your chambers immediately.

But- Tarathiel tried to protest, looking at the dragon king anxiously, knowing that another blast could come through anytime soon. However, the demigod cut him off.

You do not have time. Quezacotl told him. The survival of your kin and this kingdom depends on you. Go now! And without further protest, Tarathiel immediately dove for the stairs leading down into the castle, just in time to dodge yet another flare aimed at his back.

Tarathiel ran as fast as he could towards his destination, and he soon realized what Quezacotl had in mind. The only thing that could save their lives, if it is actually what Tarathiel thought it to be.

Their only hope.

"Now, it's your guy's turn." Gabriel said to Novaras.

Damn thats cool. Can I borrow your wings?

Not a chance. Just call me out.

"Alright. You might wanna back up for this, its gonna be pretty hot."

And with that, Novaras's hands caught fire. The fire slowly spread up his arms to his chest, then quickly went everywhere. The flames circled around Novaras, pulling him upward in their magnificent dance. The flames organized themselves into streams, which then guided him to a relaxed position. The fire just grew and grew around him, more and more currents of fire spiraling around him. Then, the streams all directed themselves to one point, just in front of Novaras. The shape of a bird was formed, and when it was large enough, Novaras grabbed on. After a couple seconds, flames stopped emerging from him and he looked normal again, only riding a giant bird of fire. When the last spark went into the bird's form, Phoenix was complete.

He flapped his wings a bit, then landed on the ground.

"What of the other two? How will they manage?" He asked aloud.

And what of the church? Aren't we going to burn it down?

I sense someone else lurks about, and is going to take care of this job for us. If not, we can always return after we've killed these three.

"Man, why am I the only one without a summon? Oh well it doesn't matter. Oh yeah I decided to follow you guys after all, think your bird there would mind giving me a ride?" Kelvin said to Novaras. Original Kelvin was going to stay and make sure the church stayed safeguarded, but when he realized that the target was not the church, but Gabriel, he decided it best to stick with him. I hate getting a ride with this guy, but at least I know he would attack me first rather than anyone else if I ride with him.

After some time spent watching the bandits, Angelith summoned Cerberus and tried to pin down its feelings. Angelith knew enough about her dear friend to understand a few of the things that it did, but this time, it was different. For instance, Angelith had never seen the head direct their noses in different directions and growl. The growling alone meant danger. Cerberus often directed the center head towards the danger and the other heads hung low, as if assenting that the center head was acting like a sort of arrow.

If all three heads were up and aiming in different directions...what did that mean? There was danger all around them? Angelith didn't like the idea very much. Cerberus was powerful, but even a monster of his strength couldn't protect Angelith, or itself for that matter, from all directions at once. Whatever Cerberus was trying to tell her, Angelith was sure it wasn't good.

Andrew walked past a tree, while also staring at it.
in case you were wondering, yes that is the same tree you just passed a while back
Darn it! I'm usually much better than this at finding directions.
No, it's just that usually you have me wrap myself around a piece of metal so that it points north and then we just go in that direction until we get out of whatever we're lost in.
Yeah yeah, I know. Wait, what's that?
I don't know, but it looks like some sort of destruction
Let's see if we can go help then
Bad idea
Even if we just hang around the edges and watch before doing anything?
All right, that plan is better just rushing in

With that, he began running through the trees towards the pillar of smoke

OOC: If anyone wants to ambush me as I'm on my way, feel free

OOC: the castle will fall!

We are near, Manda. So very near, Mikay thought towards the hurtling serpent as she clung on with the strength of an earth elemental. The great serpent smashed through a softened earth wall and tunnelled onward.
I know. I can sense the army rushing above me. There is a sturdy structure to the right. I am changing direction now, Manda replied, swerving in that direction.

The castle never knew what hit them.

There was a shout of warning, "Look! To the right!" as Manda briefly surfaced enough to reveal a flash of violet scales and a massive, green eye which momentarily focused on the wall.
Then it disappeared, leaving in his wake a gigantic tunnel that led deep into the ground.

Good Manda. Let them know your presence. It will bring more terror to their hearts, Mikay thought, riding Manda like a giant rollercoaster. Now, RAM.
You're the boss, Manda replied dryly, before shooting upwards with phenomenal speed, as if the earth was merely water.

The wall near the castle gates erupted. Literally. Stone and elves flew everywhere, as a gigantic serpentine head smashed out of the ground, pulverising the section of the wall into debris in mere seconds.
It seemed like an impossible feat, destroying such a powerful twice reinforced post like that, and the show of power caused some men that survived to cower in fear as the great snake continued to rise, his momentum so strong that he came halfway out of the earth before falling back.

It wasn't over, however, as Mikay felt the earth around her call to her. Her eyes glinted with malice as she raised a hand and suddenly clenched her fist.
A gaping chasm split across a further section of the now unstable stone wall, the jaws of the Earth Maw gaping wide as more sections of the wall fell to her power. Then, with a grinding sound, the great mouth of the earth snapped shut, entombing the section of wall deep within its womb. Now, a great gaping hole opened the impenetrable castle for all enemies to pour in.

Stunned confusion prevented elves from clamouring into a retaliation as they watched in awe their defences collapse around them. It wasn't until Manda crushed a dozen with a sweep of his tail did they begin to attack the new threat. Yet, even then, arrows snapped as they struck the thick hide of Manda, and swords could not get through the scales of the massive serpent.
Manda snapped irritatively at the pesky creatures, sending a few defenders flying.

Mikay looked to the sky, where Bahamut kept the collapsing tower busy. She took out something that Kithar had given to her a while back, just as a signal rather than defence. A strobe bomb. Quite handy when you need to get somebody's attention. Mikay ran a hand over the surface of the leather bomb, and pulled the cord to activate it, before tossing it into the air directly above her. Manda's tail suddenly whipped out of nowhere, and a few arrows were deflected from hitting her back. She gave a grateful smile.

The flare was bright, and will catch Kithar's attention, as well as announcing their success in breaching the castle's defences.

***Gaian army***
The army averted their eyes as they charged, knowing the extent of the power of the strobe bomb. They raced towards the broken remnants of the castle wall, their numbers, though not as great as before, are still very much strong so that the losses were insignificant.

OOC: DIE! bwahaha *ebil grin*

Beowulf managed to extricate himself from Darkwraiven's claws at great length, before finally climbing up to the huge bird's back. He glanced down at his dark ride, and then at the shapely woman who was currently filling the saddle.

"Whoa, she's hot, bo-"

"Shut up."

She had just saved his life and here she was giving him a free ride. Clearly some kind of response was in order here.

"What the hell did you think you were doing? I was about to kick that earth girl's ass back there!"

"Really? All I saw through Darkwraivens eyes was a man getting his ass kicked out there because he is too dumb to think about what would happen if he took on two summoners with immence earth magic on their side. Not to mention you were going about the whole attack totally the wrong way," Catharsis retorted. Before Beowulf could draw a breath, she continued, in the same sharp, sarcastic tone, "You should've gotten them both on their own, then went for the man. You saw how she didn't bother helping him when he was in trouble. The man may help the woman, but naturally, you assumed that because he was buried in feet-deep vines, he wouldn't be able to cut himself out of it because he has a freaking big sword, kill the druid with one shot, and then proceeded to beat the crap out of you. Wraiven, land here," she directed the shadow summon suddenly, and the beast complied, coming down into a low spiral.
"I've got my eye on you now," Catharsis suddenly warned as they dismounted the great shadowy bird, turning towards Beowulf and his two swords.
"You have almost bitten off more than you can chew. The heavens know what you'll try next time."
