The greastest part about the Ha Ha Ha line is Catz only laughs twice.
There was a really bad line in the original Devil My Cry. When Dante finally confronts Mundus he says "... I can create it, as mean as you want." I know that doesn't seem to bad until you consider they were talking about Trish and the voice acting just seems to ephasize how odd that line sounds.

While it's not HORRIBLY translated, it's still very awkward, especially considering what happens... it's also wrong. Very, very wrong.

The voice acting at the beginning of the NA version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is just... well, horrid. I've often wondered if the 'actors' had any idea what they were reading for.
"Mankind ill-needs a savior such as yourself!" or some such rubbish...

That went well. Didn't it?

If it's bad voice acting you want, listen to the VA in Baten Kaitos. Guh. I can stand most bad voice acting, but.. bleh. First time I've actually had to turn it off (and thank god they included that option). It sounds like they were all recorded in a tin can, and the voice actors seem to have absolutely no notion of the 'acting' part of thier title. Also, some of the lines are just.... odd.
"No time for tiddly-winks if we want to save the world before supper!" Such a shame, because other parts of that game are fantastic.

Bad voice acting has never bothered me at all. I guess its because I come from a place where broken english is a way of life. /shrug
The only time I have ever really noticed that the actors weren't trying was in the RE series, and more recently, certain parts of Tales of Symphonia. *FLAME DISCLAIMER- Only certain parts. Overall I give it a b-* I have an immuntity to bad voice acting, and so far the only thing ever to get past my ears of iron is the voice acting in a 4kids production. Ugh, why must Sanji sound like he is from Queens, and whoever does Kaiba's voice must be killed. Slowly. I'm talking long drawn out suffering here. Oh and Chinchilla.

But yes, it's a fantastic game, probably one of the worst translations I've ever seen. Almost to the point where you wonder if the Engrish is on purpose. If you can find it new, it's only $10. Even if you're not into shooters, I'd say it's worth picking up for the cutscenes alone. |
