1. FFX - Which I've been enjoying in spite of its flaws. It's a pretty good game, and, overall, I'd probably put it as the third best one of the main series.

2. Castlevania: Order of Ecclessia - I suck at this game, but it's still pretty fun. The bosses are cool, the weapon/attack mapping works well, especially with the different weaknesses to different weapon types, and the spriting is just absolutely gorgeous.

3. New Super Mario Bros Wii - This game is neither as bad or as good as I've heard. It's still pretty good, but didn't quite live up to what people told me.

4. Assassin's Creed - I don't really give half a damn about the plot, but it's fun enough.

5. I Wanna Be The Guy - FUCKING APPLES HOLY FUCKING SHIT GUYS

1. Supahpowah 2. For my world-domination desires.
2. Sword of the Stars. For my galactic-domination desires.
3. Dragon Age. For my magical desires.
4. Kira Kira on my iPod. Because I beat Myst and now I need a game.

Cave Story - Fucking HELL!

TF2 - Who doesn't like to sap a few sentries?

Braid - Dunno, people keep saying it's good

Half Life 2 - I can finally see what the hype is about.

Darksiders - I'm at the Black Temple now, and the game's actually getting pretty hard. Those Hammer motherfuckers can take out like two-three bubbles of life with one hit, and the puzzles are getting trickier and trickier. I've even got the Aperture Science Gauntlet-Mounted Portal Device.

Might replay some Fallout 3 after this, but I think Dark Void is going to be taking up much of my time, provided Gamefly isn't gonna be a cock about it.

Got Okami today for ten bucks. Figure I'd need it for the Darksiders review for research.

1.Borderlands, utterly awesome
2. CoD:Modern Warfare 2 (mostly multi-player though)

4. Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, but only when I have fellow zombie contingency planner to play co-op with

1. Modern Warfare 2. Been messing around in the multiplayer with random class setups since I hit level 70 and I refuse to go Prestige. Why would I want to get rid of all my progress just for a stupid little icon?

2. Borderlands. I need to finish off the Underdome DLC, although it's pretty freakin' hard with a level 50 guy.

3. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Playing through it a second time for fun.

I'm also debating on which I should rent first, Bayonetta or Darksiders, since I'm enticed by both equally.

Here let me help you:

If you want a game that will put on a Zelda costume and fellate you sensually, then get Darksiders.

If you want a ridiculously proportioned woman in stillettos to kick stomp on your nuts over and over again before letting you play a quirky decent Devil May Cry spinoff, then buy Bayonetta.

It's a pretty easy choice all things considered.

Well I plan on getting around to both, it's just a matter of which do I delve into first. And that's kind of the problem; I'm not sure if I want to start off with Zelda-esque gameplay or DMC-ish gameplay. I might just end up flipping a coin though.

If you want DMC ish gameplay get DMC3.

I know I suck that dick every other Wendsday but seriously man Bayonetta didn't set my heart on fire.

Anyway I'll stop threadjacking cause I've got a review coming up Friday and I'm kinda drunk. Continue as you were!

EDIT: (That and Darksiders is more like God of War combat with Zelda/Prince of Persia gameplay.)

Neverwinter Nights - Cause I have never actually beaten the main campaign despite playing the online a bunch.
Fallout 3 DLC - Cause I Just got it all.
No One Lives For Ever - FPS 60s spy action!
Megaman 9 Protoman Mode - Must be ready for MM10...
Disgaea 2 Dark Hero Days - It's really like crack.
Persona - Started over and am now trudging along on the Snow Queen Quest after going back and beating the main story.
Final Fantasy Legend 2 - Just playing it in class during the lectures where I'm learning a whole lot of nothing.

Yugioh 5Ds Tag Force 4: It's almost funny how I picked this over Disidia Final Fantasy and Disgaea 2.

Say what you will but the AI in that game is much better then it was in the previous 3 games. So much it feels like it's cheating sometimes. And my partner isn't an idiot for once

Bioshock - In place of nothing new to play I decided to break out Bioshock again. Playing through on Survivor difficulty... without using vita chambers. Very hard.

Darksiders - Finished it last week, so technically I'm not playing it right now, but I figured it was still recent enough to apply for this thread.

Wipeout HD - I always have time for Wipeout

Uncharted 2 - I would still be playing this more, except for the fact that for some reason Naughty Dog recently decided to erase everyones online progress and reset us all to level 1, so the multiplayer now has not even the slightest semblance of balance when it auto-assigns teams. I think I may be giving up on this now.

Borderlands - Still haven't finished with this, and I'm debating whether to continue and also get the new DLC. With newer games coming within a month this may also go on the shelf with Uncharted.

I'm replaying Persona 4. Just finished the Heaven dungeon. Aww, Nanako.

I also just received Planescape: Torment in the mail so I'll be playing that for the first time ever pretty soon, should be fun.

And I'm going to be playing Medieval II: Total War pretty soon, corresponding with my Let's Play.

Interestingly, thinking about Persona 4 has led me to attempt to compile another list:

If Solid Snake Was Marooned on a Desert Island and Could Only Play 5 Games for the Rest of His Life, Which would he Choose to Bring?

1: Persona 4
2: Chrono Trigger
3: Metal Gear Solid 3
4: Medieval II: Total War
5: Shadow of the Colossus

It's interesting how that list differs somewhat from a list of my "Top 5 Videogames Period." I prefer ICO over Shadow of the Colossus, for example, but Colossus has more replay value. Similarly, I prefer the original MGS over MGS3 in terms of story, and so I generally rate the original title higher, but if I were stuck on a desert island I'd want access to the game with the best gameplay and graphics as well as a bitchin' story. Medieval II is a phenomenal game, but it wouldn't make my Top 10 videogames (its open-ended gameplay and re-playability make the difference here.)

Persona 4 would definitely make my Top 5, but it's not my favorite videogame of all time, whereas it'd easily be my #1 choice for a deserted island escapade. The one great element about Persona 4 is how the game effectively deceives you into believing 1: that its cast of characters are all living, breathing people, and 2:that you're bestest best friends with all of them (even Adachi he just doesn't know it yet.) Which is something I'd need to deceive myself into believing.

Sorry for hijacking your thread NonCon!

So I finally--finally--got myself a copy of Disgaea DS, after being obliged to reorder it because GoHastings.com are a collection of dipshits who couldn't find their own asses with flashlights, a map and a crack team of experienced ass-location guides. I've only poked around in it a little so far, so once I get into it in earnest you may never hear from me again. But I already like pretty much everything but the voice acting, which sounds fairly mediocre.

I've also been doing some grinding in Final Fantasy V Advance, because I've started that game like three times already and I want to actually finish a playthrough for once. Besides, all that job-level grinding is good for killing time when I need to. Working on getting Level 5 Death from the Library of the Ancients. (Fact: more RPGs need library dungeons. I think that's a neat idea.)

Are you kidding just glancing at that thread is what got me this deep. I'm not delving any deeper.

Haven't gotten to that point yet but I know its coming eventually. At the moment I'm seriously planning the removal of a hill so I can build a mega wall or maybe I'll just remove all the up ramps and use it as part of the wall.

In other news the shear awesomeness of the game and the dwarfs was cemented when one of my guard dwarfs had a baby while on duty at her guard post and simply carried on guarding the drawbridge. Now that's dedication.

Edit: Oh and I've picked up Borderlands again in my non-dwarf fortress time. Planing to preorder Mass Effect 2 and when I get some money Dragon Age and Darksiders are definitely on the list of things to play. That is if Dwarf Fortress ever lets me go.

Katamari Forever - because it's so damned addictive.
Disgaea 3 - Liking the story more than the first two so far, and my only gripe is the removal of tutoring. I miss being able to teach a healer offensive magic so easily.
Mass Effect - Replaying in preparation for ME2.
Dwarf Fortress - starting to get there, probably a bit behind where Sith is at.

I'm really not all that great, yet. I can survive pretty much everything, but I haven't done much with magma, nor have I done a whole whole lot of creating items and a few of the more finnicky things still catch me now and then, like ramps that don't want to work quite right for wagons, or getting my dorfs to not leave their shitty dirty clothes on top of my open defensive flood gates.

My current fortress is so self reliant that I have a trap (which surrounds my trade depot, because fuck elves), where if a goblin/whatever steps on a pressure plate the whole place closes down with flood gates. I then use a lever to drown them--so basically a drowning chamber linked to pressure plates as well as the standard lever set up. You must go past this to enter/leave my fortress. (This is also the fourth such unavoidable trap, the first is a cage trapped chokepoint, followed by dwarven atom smasher, followed by weapon traps)

I released a couple captured goblins into my fortress for shits and giggles. One almost escaped, tripping that trap and sealing my fortress.

I did not notice this until the goblin died of starvation or something and started rotting.

I currently have 146 dwarves and over 3000 in my food stocks, with seven champions all of which are legendary in wrestling + one other weapon and then expert + in shield use and armor.

I have no HFS or magma on my map, though, which means I can't unleash demons and hope for SoF so I can see how I fare there. I have plans for them, but it's pretty pointless if I don't have any.

So really I'm pretty much just trying to get economy started so I can see how terrible that headache is and/or waiting for a megabeast to attack so I can maybe have something resembling a challenge.

I did steal the Workgill save file, however, and plan on loading it up next time I'm in a state of mind to play and dicking with all those things my fortress doesn't have.

Once I'm fully confident in my skills I may sign up, though.

Borderlands, though having played out each class I am playing it less unless friends are on.

Brutal Legend Letdown, which I recently just sped through, had me happy at first with the great animation and humor. It's too bad that the gameplay is mediocre at best and the ending is utterly terrible. Oh well. I still have serpents to free!

Mass Effect on a second character to refresh for the release of the sequel. I had a good time playing an offensive biotic instead of a Terran Ghost infiltrator this go. Somehow the Mako annoyed me a lot less this time, though I wonder if I just landed on less planets since I didn't need the XP or the completionist achievement anymore. lolularity is easy mode.

Space Invaders Extreme is just the kind of DS game I love. It's quick, it's beautifully animated, and it's fast-paced fun. I also like the heavy music motif going on in it.

Counter-Strike was one of my first online-with-people games since back when it was a beta mod for HL, so I still play that fairly regularly when I have an urge to shoot at people (well, the Source version, at any rate).

I've been playing a bit of Zero Hour skirmishes lately. I tend to get into a Generals kick for a few weeks every half a year or so. I like the general powers, I guess.

e3: The new Super Mario Bros. Wii, while entertaining alone, is probably the best thing aside from Smash Bros. on that console [perhaps the only thing, but that's another story...] with friends. It is equally fun to work together to demolish the levels and to work against each other to kill all of your teammates and make the team fail the levels. I am a big fan of picking someone up and tossing them toward an enemy while yelling, "Go get'em." That was good times.

I just logged a few hours in Guild Wars for the first time in about two months. Had been going pretty strong with that for a while last year up through November but just stopped due to Borderlands and work. Still not as exciting and certainly not as novel as it once was, but I guess I like character-hopping in that game well enough (I have 11).

I should get around to playing Fallout 3 to completion instead of just being like level 5-10 and doing jack shit. And Bioshock, too, so I can justify playing the second one.

I have also been playing Settlers of Catan, Fluxx, and Puerto Rico whenever possible/we get enough interested parties together. Unfortunately, the "write grant proposals and book chapters" game is going to have to take priority now.

e: Oh and the "interpret mixed signals" game has been going on, though I've gotten better at cutting through the BS.

e2: And as much as I hate the character design for the player-character, I may have to get Bayonetta. The combat is too much fun.

I.... I'm playing....

Wow I'm actually not playing anything, despite having a brand new Xbox 360 and games in my room. I need to fix this.

I guess I'm kind of playing The Sims 3.

And to an extent I'm playing Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. I've actually never beaten the remake so I've been sloooooooooooooooowly going through it. In very very short bursts. I think I'm only after the Ocelot fight. It doesn't help that the cords to my Gamecube are kind of crappy so I lose image every ten minutes.

7th Dragon on the DS, which is like Etrian Odyssey, but mixed with Dragon Quest a bit. Been playing lots of TF2 lately and I should go finish Torchlight and Chrono Trigger DS because I'm some three hours away from the end in both. And I just got Dragonica Online which has been so far weirdly good ( for a F2P MMORPG with "cute" graphics ).

Just freaking finished Darksiders a few minutes ago. My man-love for Joe Mad has almost reached "Gay fanboy" level. Im now hunting down all the health and armor bits and trying to find all the Top hat zombie locations because seriously he is the most challenging and fun thing to fight as long as you don't go Chaos on his ass.

Disgaea Afternoon of darkness. because having a thief named Rob is hilarious and the gameplay is fun for a strategy game.

Dissida because games that start with D rule...also because I can never get too many Turtles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHVqUkyQxNI#t=1m23s)
Also Jecht's combos...

also TF2 because teamwork RULES (if it wasn't for the return of the damn rambos because of the sandman nerf anyway)

Once I'm fully confident in my skills I may sign up, though.I'd say what you have so far is more than sufficient. I had about 20-30 hours of playtime logged, maximum, before I had a go at it.

So really I'm pretty much just trying to get economy started so I can see how terrible that headache is and/or waiting for a megabeast to attack so I can maybe have something resembling a challenge.Honestly, Megabeasts are kinda underwhelming unless you mod the RAWs to make them better. More size, [TRAPAVOID], and various creature specific issues (such as giving dragons [FIREIMMUNE]) are a good start. Even then, any single sufficiently trained marksman could kill god himself with a clear line of fire.

Either way, the next version, which improves on a lot of stuff, is coming out "soon", so I'm mostly just experimenting with different settings (I still don't see the difficulty of evil regions) and trying to develop efficient garbage disposal.

Also, I started a new game of Majora's Mask. Good times!

Dwarf Fortress - Just started a fortress (Powercity), worst thing I've had to deal with so far are Macaque Raids. Unfortunately, I can't sink large amounts of time into playing DF because of college.

Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition - actually been able to waste more time this because I can just plug it in for half an hour or so and blow shit up or explore around.

Also have on the to-complete at some point list:
Assassin's Creed II
Dragon Age
Modern Warfare 2 - Wasn't disturbed much by the "No Russians" level in the airport - that's like playing GTA, it's the battles through Virginia and DC that I've found most unnerving.

I'm playing:

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, the Crystal Bearers: This game really rewards saying "Screw the story" and just goofing around poking at things. I found ghost pirates. I was attacked by a tonberry dual-wielding a giant knife and a chainsaw. These are not things that happened on my first playthrough where I only screwed around for a couple hours.

New Super Mario Bros Wii: Still haven't gotten all the star coins, but playing through with _mike is good times. Fun Fact: _mike plays Luigi. Luigi made it to the end of Bowser's castle alone. Then the ending cartoon played. Those of you familiar with the ending cartoon will understand his displeasure.

Mario Kart Wii: I finally broke down and bought this a week ago, despite it coming with the wheel (I don't care for the wheel). Good times getting run over by giant cars and crashing into walls during online multiplayer because it's one o' clock and I'm six in. I Really need to unlock some more characters.

I might restart Mother 3 soon, since I finished reading Zatch Bell recently and I need another "you got your goofy in my serious" story.

I've mostly been playing Pokemon Blue and Yellow and Grandia Xtreme since my brother glued himself to Dragon Age.

Pokemon is as good as ever. Grandia Xtreme is better than I used to give it credit for. It's easily the weakest in the story and writing departments, but the systems are all functional, even if things like dual-techs come off as an afterthought. The magic system is still worth using, which is more than can be said for Grandia 3. Titto is by far the best character in the roster due to getting in a third hit to his combos, but pathfinding is a bit wonky given he doesn't seem to wait to throw again (he uses throwing knives, which also gives him the bonus of range) while he's turning to the next enemy after he kills one and therefore hits the dead air in between. Or sometimes hapless enemies who happen to be in the way, since it's a true collision system. Also, they have the same annoying habit from Grandia 2 of getting stuck on each other and running out of movement points.

Still, that's not as bad as it sounds, and once you realize that you're SUPPOSED to be constantly dragging loot back into town instead of blazing through the levels, things are pretty well-set-up.

So FF:CC:CB is as worthy a purchase as I had hoped? Excellent. I'll have to go out and grab it by week's end.Hold on there, Loyal. The only thing the game does exceptionally is reward "Search every corner, climb every rock, spelunk every cave, wander every hall" gameplay. It even has a medal system with really cryptic hints to tell you, "Hey, you can get out there. Figure out how." So if you really like that, then it's a worthy purchase. However, the main "story," as in, what you do to beat the game, is "Go where your map points, watch a cut-scene, repeat." Mini-games and random battles happen between points A and B, but the game will lead you by the nose straight to the final boss really quickly if you let it. Then there's the graphics, which somehow make a pretty and interesting world using late-Gamecube textures and meshes and, occasionally, some bad pop-in from how the game handles loading objects when moving from zone to zone. And then there's Belle. She sucks.

Oh, and the combat is really easy if you don't bother with killing all the monsters in the time limit. If you do try to kill all the monsters in the time limit, it can get pretty hairy.

So, I think I'm enjoying the game for the same reason I enjoyed World of Bobcraft, in that, as soon as I got a mount there, I explored the entire Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, running like hell from way higher level monsters, because I wanted to see what was out there. That's what Crystal Bearers really has to offer; a world where, yeah, there is something down that cliff or in that hole or on that roof. Edit: And, the less obvious the hole, the more likely the something is to be not money, like new materials, mini-games, something weird, or more holes.

Another Edit: Another (really stupid) reason I dig this game so much just occurred to me, and that is I love watching the dumb-as-bricks NPC flail about and hurt each other. It's like I'm in a world full of special ed kids, which is simultaneously hilarious and makes Layle seem much more competent than he might otherwise. Except that he throws himself into geysers and harasses octopi, so maybe he fits in after all... Anyway, Square's failure to make decent NPC AI wrapped back around to successfully infusing the game with humor any time there are people around. Yeah! Go Selkie Woman! Kick the crap out of Lilty Noble! That'll show him to walk around dank alleys alone!

The game's intentionally funny at times, too, but that's maybe due to the story being full of lawls.

Maybe this is the Plan 9 from Outer Space of Final Fantasy... I do enjoy both...

Man maybe I'm just getting too old for videogaming, but these days I'm considerably more excited about going onto Amazon.com and splurging a bit on classic, obscure titles I haven't played than...you know...paying equal amounts of money on the new stuff.

I just recently received a shipment that included Einhander and Planescape: Torment. Both games are going to be fucking amazing. I can just feel it. They're games I've heard talked up and hyped for more than a decade, but that I never had the extra cash to pay for. Literally, a year ago you'd go on Amazon and both titles would be considerably more expensive than a new release.

But with Planescape re-released at a dirt-cheap price, and with Einhander nabbed at a decent deal, I just...I feel like I'm in nirvana. The instructions to Einhander include references to Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy Tactics on the back! As if those titles were new! And Planescape: Torment looks like...actual...great...storylines in videogaming. It's exceptionally nostalgic moments like these that make me grateful that I'm always just an Amazon.com used purchase away from reliving a more glorious past, back in the old days of SNES cartridges and PS1 CDs, back when I was so much more optimistic about what gaming could be capable of.

The funny thing is when purchasing Einhander and Planescape I was like: "Wait a second. I could purchase Dragon Age: Origins or Mass Effect 2 or some other newfangled video game for the same price."
But it wasn't any contest.

I'm partying like it's '98!

I'm quickly rushing through Mass Effect again to compile a save game (and apparently bonuses) for Mass Effect 2. Then, you know.

Also still working through Dragon Age. Too much Bioware for my own good.

I just mostly completed AC2. I've done all the missions I could, including the Family Crypt that you can score with U-Play points & Shipwrecked level (thanks to buying the Best Buy version). I'd love to have access to the other Black Edition special missions (Best Buy only gave 1 of 3), but I don't know how.

I've got 83 of the 100 feathers, almost entirely due to a strategy guide. However, I apparently missed a few here & there... and thus made my life a living hell trying to find the rest.

Beyond that, I don't have any immediate plans. 'Cept to grab God of War 3 when it becomes available.
