So... my GF is playing one of those "Happy Farm" thingies in one of these Social Networking Pages... and at one point she paid real cash for content (she wanted the Peacock....). At that point i decided to try and nudge her a little bit towards Facebook. Being as it seems to be the biggest one around, and also because there she couldn't pay for content (no International Credit Card) nor addict to much on the games (her English is not very good).

... then something happened.

I pushed her to this "Cafe World" game, where she puts together a Diner... and she loved. Then she asked me to play with her... now, i steer clear of these time wasters, but she really wanted me to play with her...

...today i just noticed that i'm level 9 and have a Dungeon Theme going on in My Diner. Then i noticed that i'm Level 5 in this Card Game called Warstorm because it's a good way to fill the time gap while i wait my pot roast to get done. And i have this Poison / Shock deck going on that is really effective unless i'm up against Flying and Archers.....

When did this happen?!

So, did any of you have fallen to the siren song of these Social Games?

Also... anyone want to be my Neighbor in Cafe World? Or my Ally in Warstorm?

....dear god.

*KA-CHOCK*

I'm sorry, Yeller, but this is the only way! T_T

Yeah, really don't see the point or allure in these things, but my brother is on a buttload of them. And then he rags on me for my new Twitter that I barely use.

Friends and family are all ADDICTED to this shit. Can't be bothered to play any of it myself... I don't have enough time for an MMO, let alone keeping up with some facsimile of one.

I'm too busy playing real vidya gaems.

I gotta confess, I made a Facebook solely to play these games and they're actually quite fun. Although paying real money for anything on the Internet is a big no-no for me, a lot of them are quite addicting, and even well crafted(Restaurant City and Crazy Planets come to mind).

It's sorta like a Newgrounds, 'cept people can bug you(A lot) about them.

My brother plays "My Bimbo". Once he asked me whether that belt goes well with his skirt. Yesterday I told my parents. I don't know what they're gonna do now.

I ignore all requests to join those kinds of applications and hide them from the displayed news feeds. So terrible. I'd say that I feel bad for people who actually spend money on such tripe, but they did it to themselves.

I wonder how many people posting in this thread have paid subscription fees for MMOs.

Hey Bells? I have three friends crazy about said Happy Farm game. One of them used R$80 on it ( ~US$44 ) but doesn't know how to properly do everything.

Also, one of them is using a macro.

For a browser-based game where you keep a farm.

If I wanted to virtual farm, Harvest Moon does it so much better.

BELLS

"Botched his will save."

Alas, my brothers! Today we lost a valuable comrade to the ongoing scourge of casual gaming. Except I don't think anyone really liked him. Regardless, be not discouraged by his loss, but honor his sacrifice by giving it your all in our fight against this plague.

I wonder how many people posting in this thread have paid subscription fees for MMOs.Difference: One is a game where you pay to play, and the other is supposed to be free to begin with.

Either way, I avoid both these days. MMOs suck my free time away, and lord knows I can't tolerate another one of these "Issue order, screw off for four hours, come back and repeat" 'games'.

BitVyper

the other is supposed to be free to begin with.

If they're charging money for things, this is obviously not true. And there are plenty of MMOs that use exactly the same strategy.

Hell, there's offline games using the same strategy now - downloadable outfits, weapons, missions, etc.

I wonder how many people posting in this thread have paid subscription fees for MMOs.I used to pay money for Donation Items on Gaia that place I've never been you can't prove anything dammit!

Granted it was just $5.00 a month so I could get both items. And I usually waited until mid-month when they were released so that I could see what I was getting and not buy it if it didn't look neat. But I kicked the habbit a few years ago and haven't logged in in forever. I wonder what my mini-wings are going for these days....:sweatdrop

If you're looking at pictures, sure. When you get down to the gameplay though, it's all still just grinding, with the main difference being that the casual ones don't require as much focus, so you can play them casually. Not that I think that makes them good, but if I were going to go for one or the other, then at least with the casual ones I wouldn't have to pay attention to the crappy, repetitive gameplay.

Edit: I guess that's a bit rude. Sorry; I don't mean to flame.

I have a registered Webkinz puppy.

There, I said it.

Note I only have it because my dad gets them wholesale at his store and I wanted to play with my four cousins.

Or in my case i would have to waste a good $25 to set my Diner with a full set of Ice Chairs and Tables, but it would totally clash with the Dungeon Motif i have going on...

....what the hell am i saying?!

Someone go get the shotgun and kill it before it eats our brains and turns us into more of its undead brethren.

Ah, but depending on the game, it's like the sweet crack cocaine that we desperately need to get our fix.

If NPF is a MMO, the Grinding is unbearable and the faction system atrocious. Also, the auction house (Arts & Crafts) is disturbing.

.... i thought you were paying DFM to spoon under the moonlight in the night where spring shifts to fall.

The next time the forums go down I'm going to send everyone an angry e-mail where I threaten to quit and sue for breach of contract because I cannot play the game I HAVE PAYED TO PLAY and then I'm going to cry into my collected piles of Cheetos dust.

God dammit, why is it that every time I attempt to legitimately post in a thread, it immediately becomes derailed? First it was the cunt-punting thread (my comment was about Kreia being a bitch) and now this.

Also, WHY MUST THE REPUTATION POINTS BE SO DAMN UNBALANCED? SO MANY HATEFUL PRICKS AND UNLIKABLE PEOPLE HAVE HIGH REP POINTS? DEVS, YOU MUST NERF THEM SO THAT WE CAN BE EQUALS!

The quality of a thread is inveresely proportional to the amount of time you spend in it.

Why do you think all the Pokemon LPs died? I mean hell, Token's has managed to keep on truckin' because of his horribleness but even that's on its last legs.

He's serious. Do you have any idea how many newbies had to die just for Prem's rep? NPF could've become a bastion of enlightenement for the whole internet twice over.

The newbies that became Jesus' rep could've turned the earth into an eden. But you kinda have to wonder why Jesus condones that.

So you're saying I have to become a complete total monster, devour as many newbies as possible for rep points, and in the end wind up as some Fifthfiend wannabe just to have a high rep?

Mommie... I'm scared. Make the bad men go away.
