Me and a group of friends have been playing this since it came out. Just about finished the campaign, but if anyone wants to join our kickass squad for some conquest or rush we're on just about all night every night. I have the major stuff unlocked, though I'm only a rank 6. Ranking up is so excruciatingly slow, though I'm liking the gameplay more than CoD:MW2. Working on getting my defibrillator right now.

I played the demo at a friend's house. Very fun game. The multiplayer, anyway. Though they really needed to buff the shotgun.

Then it's Gears of War: The Modern Setting.

I've actually gotten a lot more interested in this lately, from what I've seen it looks pretty good. Better than MAG and MW2 anyway. Still not sure if I'm gona get it though, seeing as most of my time is taken up with Borderlands and Bioshock 2 lately, and there's also Heavy Rain and FFXIII to consider.
There are far too many games out at the moment and I cant decide whether to buy any of them or not.

I didn't pay any attention to the first one, even though someone gave it to me. This I regret now and will spend the rest of my free time beating the first one while saving up for the second one. I should have known better than to doubt Battlefield.

So, I've heard that the Bad Company games have destructible enviroments. If this is true, awesome, I will totally get this. If not, then I probably won't. Is this true?

It is. The demo map had objectives you had to destroy. One of the objectives was situated in a house. The easiest way to kill it (I thought) was to get into a tank and shell the house from range. After a while, the walls gave out, the house collapsed, the objective was destroyed. Very fun.
It's not integral to the game, but it adds an interesting gameplay element, and any game in which you can die from a house collapsing on you has wonderful potential for slapstick-deaths.

So is this not a comedy game like its predecessor or something? The commercials seem to market it more as just your run of the mill FPS rather than the barrel of laughs the first Bad Company was at least trying to be.

Is it one of those stupid Mercenaries type things where buildings have health bars and then just instantly collapse when it runs out?

I don't think so. You can shoot a building's roof as much as you want, it won't collapse. You need to take out a house's supports (being roofs, walls, pillars, anything load-bearing) if you want to collapse it.
And no, it's not really comedy. It can be funny, but it's mostly gritty, fairly fast-paced, from my experience.

No. You shoot a wall with your machine gun and little holes will get through. You're always looking for new cover so it's more kill or be killed.

Exactly. Shafts of light even glint through the holes in the walls. Buildings have actual points of stress that balance whatever is left of a building. Just last night I took an entire spawn point building out with a mortar strike. Took a couple baddies along with it. There's really nothing wrong with this game, though they are having some network problems due to the high traffic. And the sniper class sucks until you at least unlock the AT mines.
As for the comedy, the banter during the campaign is awesome, and some of the levels are cool, but the story is very meh. They could have done a lot more with their "super ultra secret super weapon".
