This has been mentioned multiple times when talking about LPs here (and other places, of course). I'd wager most people that read them have seen it by now, as it's really popular. Also was there discussion or something to be had with this thread instead of just a link and the fanart poster?

EDIT:
In fact, let's go with this:

Name an LP that you would highly recommend and briefly describe it (WITHOUT giving spoilers about both the game it covers and the LP itself). We've done this before, but that was mostly people throwing 1-10 links in a post to LPs. Pick one and do it justice to entice others to read it, be it a classic or a newer one.

I may take your posts, if they are done well enough, and merge them into the LP sticky as examples of doing it right and recommendations for interested viewers to read.

Inside Freeman's Mind (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J80KD4BG7M)

You know the game, you know the man, now get inside his head.

I know this has already been linked before, but not in this thread.

Everything by the Freelance Astronauts (http://freelanceastronauts.com/games.php), just for the crazy banter that has nothing to do with the games. But also the things they do to the games.

Boatmurdered (http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Boatmurdered/).

Research Indicates's run of Jurassic Park: Trespasser (http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Trespasser/), as an example of someone playing through a game while being very knowledgeable of it. Has a great air of someone who knows what he's talking about, with a good speaking voice.

How about a definition of LP?
Wiki, google and UD all got Long Playing Record, ED redirected me to CP.

"Let's Play". Name comes from (I think) the Something Awful boards. Now it's a general term for entertaining video game playthroughs.

Edit:
The concept of the Let's Play thread was born on the forums of Something Awful, where they became popular in early 2006 and were given their own sub-forum in March 2007. A Let's Play thread, often abbreviated as "LP", is a forum thread where one person plays through a game, recording his progress by video, screenshots, or both, and then posts this progress in updates in his Let's Play thread. Most of the time, the screenshots and videos are accompanied by informative, insightful, in-character or just plain funny commentary by the author, making Let's Play threads a great way to get to know the ins and outs of a game in a fun way, without having to go through the hassle of actually playing the damn thing.

Okay Lev I have no idea what half of those acronyms mean.

Anyway, I really like Jerusalem's two LPs on the archive (http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/index.php?sauth=Jerusalem&search=1). A Scotsman in Egypt is unbelievable and his San Andreas one was a good read too. Did a nice job of fleshing out everyone's characters.

LT Danger's LP of Neverwinter Nights 2 (http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/NWN2/) and Scorchy's LP of KotoR 2 (http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/KOTOR%202/)are good for the same reason. All the massive asides explaining the thoughts behind the game and the cut content. Lt Danger's ongoing LP of Mask of the Betrayer is even better, acting as really interesting in depth review of everything behind one of the better written games ever. From DnD trivia, to the mythological backgrounds of the various archetypes and stories to discussions on the psychology and philosophies of the various characters. Basically it's a literature student tearing into a game the same way they normally go into books, and it's interesting to read.

Also probably doesn't bear mentioning as they're nearly as well known as The Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing,But I'll mention them so people get some idea what might have been the origin of our massive number of Pokemon LPs. RedChocobo (http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/index.php?sauth=RedChocobo&search=1)'s (now Chorocojo on SA) LPs of the various Pokemon games are great. He just started on Platinum too. Zorak's Pokemon Quartz is also hilarious due to the sheer WTF present in the romhack he played.

On Dwarf Fortress don't forget Headshoots and Syrupleaf. (http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/index.php?sauth=Various&search=1) Actually preferred Syrupleaf to Boatmurdered and Headshoots myself. The massive community interaction created a bizzarely alive fictional world.

Ongoing: the Chzo Mythos (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3297636), a series of adventure horror games written and made by Yahtzee of ZP fame. It's very informative, not afraid to rip into some of the more ridiculous design choices (and boy are there a lot), and as an added bonus, Yahtzee himself is giving input.

Drakengard (http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Drakengard/).

The Dark Id takes on one of the oddest games of the PS2 era. It's not often that a terrible game has a plot weird enough to almost make up for it, and Drakengard is one of those games. For the few people here playing Nier, Drakengard is also canonically linked to it via Word of God. I recommend you check out his Let's Plays of the Resident Evil series too.

RaidouFrost's LP of SMT. (http://www.youtube.com/user/RaidouFrost#p/a/B92E10FF76C76470/0/IP2W_6b7zJI)

I love the way he brings it, I found it very funny with just the right amount of arrogance needed to constantly make me grin.

I've do LPs myself on Youtube, but I'll be damned if I am gonna link anything to you guys.

You are a cruel and misbegotten bunch. Also, saying "Hey, I do LPs {INSERT LINK HERE}" Seem to much like begging for recognition, and I hate people who do that.

Anyway, Kikosia's Deus Ex LP is great, and even though it is well known here, I will say that if you have never seen DFM's Vampire LP then use the search function.

Oh, is DFM's Masquerade LP already off the front page, again? I wouldn't know, it's been MIA for FOREVER, then Dee decided to reboot it... and hasn't updated since.

I have literally no room to talk, so I'll just leave it at that.

All NPF "LPs", past or present, failed or successful, finished or abandoned, are linked in the LP sticky, for what it's worth, and will remain viewable unless this forum ever implements pruning and deletes old threads.

Also, LP archive, Daikatana. It lets you know how truly awful that game is more than any description ever could.

Peachi's Lets Play of Super Mario RPG is pretty great (http://peachifruit.livejournal.com/?skip=10). It's a pretty standard-issue screenshot-with-commentary kind of Lets Play, but her comments always manage to make me laugh.

Also, Slow Beef's Let's Play of Metal Gear 2 (http://www.slowbeef.com/MG2/) is probably the best way to experience the crazy game outside of getting to play it yourself. Even if you don't want to read the whole thing, definitely check out chapters LVIII and XL VII. Chapter LVIII is the best thing to happen in a video game ever.

Seconding the San Andreas LP, it really is fantastic.

Suggesting Let's Play Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red. (http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/PMD/) Adds some characterization to the two main characters and it's a nice, light-hearted read.

Everything by Chip and Ironicus (http://chipandironicus.com/). All of the time*.

Also, for any other unhealthily Paradox obsessed out there, Wiz's House Hohenzollern Rising (http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Hohenzollern/) follows the rise of the Hohenzollern dynasty from a minor county in the Holy Roman Empire in 1067 to a world power fighting for the glory of the Hohenzollerns' Empire in 1936. It traverses four Paradox Interactive games, Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis 3, Victoria, and Hearts of Iron 2.

*I say because Condemned comes first that it and Rez are, for good reason, done in a completely different style than the others, and so are not a good representation of the rest.

Edit: for some reason the Chip and Ironicus page doesn't contain their excellent LP of Metal Gear Solid 3 (http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/MGS3/), in which Chip, Ironicus, and Mission J. Frog irreverently show off the game's many secrets and silly points in their traditional back and forth style. Probably my favorite of their LPs.

Zetaplays Let's Play of Go Go Ackman. He actually makes up the dialogue as he goes along, since he can't read Japanese. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGMmAehAFog)

He also does fun packs of games he'd rather not play, and just gives up on. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNweWJMe2NY&playnext=1&list=PL182D0ED8E9BF941F)

And he's done about one of the craziest games I've ever seen. It's another Japanese game... but really, you don't need to read it to get laughs. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cms0BZB6DPc)
