On my definite buy list and probably the first EA game I'll buy since Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Extended trailer because this shit is awesome. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6v6lKPY1gAM)

I actually talked to an EA representative who's job is to show off games at some colleges. He was saying that Medal of Honor was the game to get this fall. He already played some of the beta version and he was talking about how this won't get old fast (if at all) and the multiplayer is much more intricate. Something along the lines of each individual player has a specific objective/role in co-op matches and there's something like a team rank system or whatever that builds the reputation of you (or your team, I can't remember which he said) that builds up as you do better in multiplayer.

Aside from what I learned from him, this game looks more real than Uncharted or Resident Evil 5. The graphics and realism are so insane, and FPS are some of the best games to play when done well.

What are your thoughts?

I like the part where the goat herder's just minding his own business, watching his goats goat around, when BAM! Soldier whips out, knocks his goat-stick away, and starts choking him. It's like you're really an unregulated security contractor!

The game will most likely portray the conflict as entirely good versus evil. I don't support the war on terror. This game will probably offend me. I probably won't play it.

From what I've seen this game is basically BC2 (which I loved) minus the defined class sytem, with MW2 style twitch shooting (which I hate).

I really see no reason to want this.

In all fairness, it's fishy for him to be herding goats at night, so yeah.

CAN YOU SPOT A TERRORIST?

That said, it strikes me that a LOT of that looked like it took control away from the player, which is never good in an FPS.

I played the multiplayer beta for a while; it was definitely made by DICE.

That was kind of freakishly realistic with the body bomb. I mean you know its going to be all GI-Joe pro American and shit, but that was pretty fucking harsh.

If they have you torture the enemy and kill bystanders then I'd call it an unbiased look. I don't think they've got the balls to go all out on the realism front though. The bad guys will all be despicable monsters and the good guys will all be morally grounded badasses.

Doesn't make for convincing drama, but might be the makings of a decent FPS.

Wasn't the beta supposed to be a horrible, nigh unplayable mess? I never played it myself but that's what I've read about.

I don't know if harassing peasants is that profitable. Really the game should let you take bribes from foreign companies to "accidentely" take out factories and things so that they can get contracts to rebuild everything.
I totally think they should have run the economics angle.

So I watched the trailer and I take issue with the title of this thread.

It looks to me like shooting terrorists will continue to be exactly the same as it has been. It will also continue to greatly resemble shooting nazis, russians, and chinese communists. At least it's not quite like shooting aliens and dinosaurs, though.

The trailer gives me no reason to expect anything great or new.

See I used to be able to keep Medal of Honor and Call of Duty straight because Medal of Honor was the one that didn't make a modern warfare game yet.

Now I'm confused again like I was back in the old days when it was all just WWII shooters.

I played on the PC, and while it had its bugs I hear it was much better than the console beta. Which makes sense, considering the devs' preference for the PC.

And aside from the recentness, how is shooting up a bunch of afghanis really any much different than shooting up any of the other aforementioned groups? What I'd like to see is a game where rich people and the elite take it in the bobo for a change.

Uh-huh.

He was saying that Medal of Honor was the game to get this fall.
A shocking development, indeed!

Well, if the EA representative hired to tour around and hype the game says it, it must be true! I'LL TAKE 20!

Anyway, the big news coming out of this game is that the multiplayer--as is customary in every war game ever--allows you take the role of the antagonists, which in this case is the Taliban. Naturally, Fox News is all over this shit. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djGlMMiUUZI)

My favorite part is that the concerned mother's wacky hogwosh is so far out there that even the Fox News guy is even like, "Okay lady, come on."
