Quit whining and start sunfury farming.

Also if anyone is willing to trade rocket boots for one platinum please let me know so we can meet up on the server and trade (I've lost my patience with trying to find it).

Thats what I am doing but for fuck sakes Hellstone is no longer immune to Dynamite so I have to grenade spam their asses.
But srsly I JUST WANT FUCKING HELLSTONE ARMOR but I can't get hellstone because i am being out spammed and then rushed by 4 fucking bones at a time.

You could do it in single-player, since characters are persistant across worlds.

For the record sunfury is pretty pointless. The only reason to have it is to have it. It can do nothing you can't do better with muramasa, phoenix blaster, or, hell, even the flamarang and/or molten fury.

Flails in general are pretty terrible, though.

I mean, I guess you can kill Eater of Worlds a little faster with it by standing in an enclosed space and clicking the wall really fast, but you're also going to take more damage than fighting him in, literally, any other way (including standing in an enclosed space and using a different weapon 'cause at least you can walk around a LITTLE with anything else and still maintain attack speed), and it's boring as fuck.

That said, yeah, multiplayer maps spawn lots of bone serpents and shit, which is why I farmed sunfury on tahr's server, and mined up my first set of molten armor on my single player server.

Sunfury is actually a really good boss killer, excluding the Eye of Cthulu. At least, in my experience.

Krylo
06-13-2011, 04:46 PM
Try phoenix blaster with meteor shot. The only thing SF kills faster than meteor shot blaster is the eater, and like I said, that requires you to stand against a wall and hit the wall or floor to maximize your attack speed, which means you can't dodge, and also tends to make the eater's head hover near you longer (as you're destroying the head while it's right on top of you multiple times), which all results in using more pots than you would normally.

Muramasa only takes a very little bit longer, and you come out of it using like half the pots. And if you're in an open area blaster is still just plain faster.

There are ways to kill bosses stupidly fast with Sunfury, but you have to do a bunch of well-timed ninja shit and you can just pop caps in them with PB

Aldurin

I even prefer the Blue moon over the Muramasa because against enemies like the eye and worm I can do I decent upward throw right into them as it chains damage during that moment that if floats there, and then if throw in line with the eater it will really rack up damage.

Part of why I'm going to go for the Sunfury soon since I want that extra pain it brings.

Muramasa is terrible against most bosses, yes (I still use it ANYWAY, 'cause it's not like they're actually hard... but then I also don't wear armor when fighting most bosses unless I'm doing a multi-summon boss rush or just want some demonite quick). All swords are. But seriously, try the blaster against the eye. You can only do the 'float damage' now and then, but with the blaster you're constantly popping caps into it. The fight takes under a minute.

Also, I'm not sure if you can actually hit more/faster with sunfury against eater than the 'attack the floor' trick that makes it 'swing' faster than VF speed, regardless of how you throw it into the enemy. And, again, you can only do the properly timed throws sometimes during a boss fight.

So while I definitely noticed that Eater went down much faster using sunfury in an enclosed space than using muramasa or phoenix blaster, it wasn't so much faster as to make sunfury worth getting.

Man I just started playing and I don't know what you dudes are talking about- I just hit stuff with my pickaxe and it dies. Eater of the World comes out of ground and I just pick him in the eye. It pretty sweet.
Don't use guns. They kill people.

I am in my own single player. I have No idea how bad Hell would be in the server.

Also I am about to make a run on my map with blue brick to farm for a sun furry. Because hell stone can't stand dynamite anymore.

also I am swimming in fireflowers

Phoenix Blaster is okay, I guess. I still like the Minishark better, but that's because I carry a metric shitton of meteor shots with me at all times.

Haven't been playing recently (had a hankering for old Sega games), but decided to get some of that thar vanity shiz today. Long story short, I'm now rolling sunglasses, tux pants, and ninja shirt.

Speaking of ninja shirt, while I was getting the suit, I ended up with extra pants. Ninja pants are in the donation thing if anyone wants them. Also: The chests in the corrupted pillar are free to be taken from. I just like to stick demonite/shadow shit in them sometimes 'cause it feels right.

I now have full Molten armor and a flame slash and I am working on a Sun fury

I now have the Phoenix Blaster and roughly an entire inventory full of meteor shot. I also have full molten armor, rocket boots, obsidian skull, cloud in a jar, and two cobalt shields. Starting to get kind of bored actually. I finally have all these bitchin items and theres nothing left to do with them. I've raided the dungeon, torn apart the underworld (drained an ocean into it for lulz after harvesting hellstone to my heart's content) and farmed a full set of Jungle Armor. Feels like theres nothing left. Hopefully they'll update with more content.

Krylo

Pip Boy
06-15-2011, 11:46 PM
Technically no, but they just dont hold my interest very well. I'll probably grab one set of items that I like and wear it all the time, but really it'll be hard to find anything I like better than the Molten armor. The pieces individually look pretty cool, and glowing whenever you move is awesome.

Krylo

Why is there a massive strip mine/hole in the ground near the entrance to Aldurin's fort? Is it there for a reason?

I ask because if it isn't I might fill it in some and replant the trees.

Either way I put wooden platforms over it so it's not a falling hazard anymore. Same goes with the hell tunnel next door to it.

New video of what appears to be the next update's prime feature. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1EgEnivvkY&feature=feedu)

This looks like some kind of buff system, all I could identify was gravity inversion ("hey, let's try this outside!"), water walk, ore finder (that glowy stuff was not new ore it seems) and the other symbols seemed to indicate things like defense, self-luminosity and other things.

I like this.

A buddy and I haven't really gotten too far. We've been fighting off that world eater dude twice a day when we dynamite the orbs and the best we have for anything is demonite. We have yet to get to the actual underworld or mine any hellfire stuff. Good news is he has an orb of light, yet does not have enough mana to use the thing yet. Fun part now is stockpiling demonite ore and scales for some pretty awesome stuff. Too bad he's hogging all the nice gear, but it is his server after all, I guess.

Cool thing? We managed a 4 floor house with an escape route to our grand tunnel and mining zone, not to mention our tower for the merchants. Yes, we have grappling hooks and no longer build wood beams to get back up places. Well, we don't fear the night anymore and the corruption is just a mild annoyance to tread through and we had to to get to a meteor crash. At least it was out there and not on our houses. Treading through the corruption just to get to the dungeon and get to Skeletron is also an annoyance, as the constant delays by devourers and soul eater things get on the nerves, so we end up getting there by day, which sucks.

Empty donation chests and/or chests inside pillar of corruption.

Learn him who is the boss.

Also, tell him to run the server from the terrariaserver.exe. He then gets access to a 'time' command that lets him set the time to whatever he likes whenever he likes. No more waiting for night time to summon skeletron.

Uh, I'd love to play on the server with everyone else, but there's a tiny bit of a problem. Hamachi keeps telling me that the server is full. No matter what time of day I try to log on to it, it's full.

Edit: By the way, if anyone wants to chat over Steam or something, maybe plan something out, try adding Gaimeboy or Maniacman2030, not sure which one you need to add. I'll probably be on a Terraria bender tonight all by my lonesome.

Okay, we have officially hit the free cap for Hamachi networks. I booted one person (I have no idea who, they didn't have a name set) who I don't think I've seen on in a while, but I could be wrong.

If any of you logged into the Hamachi Network but don't really use it at all anymore, it still has you saved in there even with Hamachi off. Toss me your Hamachi IP and I'll either temporarily evict you so that people who want to log in can play, or you can drop out and in yourself. You of course are always welcome to rejoin etc. etc. at a later date.

So, there was a Terraria sale today (started at 75% off, then 50%), I hope I can get on the server tomorrow ^_^. Oh, and I got the 4 pack, in case anyone wants to get the game (sorry, no freebies this time since right now, I'm try to save some money), I got 2 copies left.

I have become enamored with many other things so I don't know that I'll ever finish the skyway. If someone else wants to do so they can feel free to do so in whatever manner they choose. Just keep in mind that using anything other than wooden platforms can/will catch meteors and result in pretty much no actual meteorite.

Edit: P.S. This is not however carte blanche to destroy my fortress or the pillar of corruption. I really like those two things.

You should be able to link in, now.

You could just kick everyone who isn't currently playing and then put the log in info on the first page.

It only takes a second to rejoin or whatever so long as you have the log in information.

Also: Is just being offline enough or do you have to actually leave the network? I put myself offline back when you first mentioned it, but with people still getting full errors and in my experience not that many people being online on it all the time, I figured I'd just full on leave to be safe. Though it seems silly that offline computers would count for filling the network.

McTahr
07-10-2011, 09:14 PM
You have to actually leave the network to open up a space.

Re: rest of the stuff you said
I booted every single offline user. The log-in credentials for the server are on the first post of this thread. Do as you will. If you plan on leaving for an extended period of time, please leave the Hamachi network so new folks can do stuff and things with bricks and blocks.

Update's out.

NPC’s

There are thirty-six new monsters!
The underworld has a new master, the Wall of Flesh. Defeating him will unlock new challenges for your world.
There are three harder versions of the older bosses.
There are now three new friendly NPC’s that can be rescued after specific conditions are met.
The Dryad will now tell you the percentage of Corruption vs. Hallow in the world.
Made several small changes to allow for better underground cities.
New NPCs will spawn in their homes underground, instead of on the surface.
Worms will no longer spawn when near a friendly NPC.
Underground towns will now reduce, and eventually stop, enemy spawning.

Items

Added thirty-nine statues that are scattered around the world. Some of them do special things when activated with mechanics!
Star Cannon : Shoots faster.
Sandgun : Sand shot from it does more damage, and it shoots faster.
Blowpipe : Now listed as ranged.
Goblins no longer drop rocket boots during an invasion. Instead they are sold by a new NPC that can be rescued underground after the player has defeated the Goblin Army.
Boomerang type weapons are listed as melee.
Added four new armor sets. Each set has different helms that give bonuses to melee, ranged, or magic, respectively.
There are twenty-one new accessories.
Weapons and accessories can now have random conditions that modify their stats. These conditions can be changed for a price by visiting a new NPC.
The crafting requirements for Molten and Jungle gear have been reduced.
Some accessories can now be combined at a Tinkerer’s Workshop.
Colored Torches can now be crafted out of Gems and Torches.
Added Mannequins that are crafted out of wood. Place armor on them for decoration/storage.
Added the Wrench to place wires.
Added Wire Cutters to remove wires.
Added Pressure Plates, Switches, and Timers to activate devices.
Added Music Boxes that record and play in-game music.
Added Pumps to transport liquids.
Added loads of other new items and weapons waiting to be found!
Putting the Guide Voodoo Doll in lava is now a bad idea...or is it?

Lighting / Display

Terraria now has smooth, colored lighting! You can toggle between the four lighting modes: Color, White, Retro, and Trippy in the Options Menu or by pressing F7.
Made several lighting and display optimizations to increase game performance.
Added automatic graphic quality adjustment based on the game’s frame rate. This setting can be toggled in the Options Menu.

Multiplayer

Fixed a problem with item syncing for newly connected players.
Fixed a bug that caused graphical issues for player’s using automatic weapons.
Added a limit to how often the server can broadcast NPC update packets. This prevents NPC’s from trying to update every cycle which would cause massive amounts of lag.
Reduced the amount of data needed to transmit tiles down to 25%.
The server now only broadcasts tile data to the players who need it.
The server now withholds some NPC, player, and projectile packets based on player distance from them.
Fixed a bug where water is consumed when a player cures Corruption with Purification Powder while standing in water.

World

Above ground tunnels may now be created during world gen.
Smashing Demon Altars with a special item will cause new ore to appear around the world.
Defeating the hell boss will now increase the difficulty of the world. Harder monsters will spawn, and the Corruption’s rate of spread will be greatly increased.
Defeating the hell boss will allow the Corruption to spread underground, over sand, stone, and Sunflowers, and through Jungles, destroying them if you let it!
There is a new biome, The Hallow, that will be created when the hell boss is defeated.
Removed obsolete lighting code, reducing both RAM usage and world save file sizes.
Added several small features to world gen.
Tweaked the way and amount of Underground Mushroom biome spawn.
Demon Torches now appear in shelters generated in the underworld.
Underground cabins may randomly spawn around chests.
Different styles of wall can now be placed next to one another without showing the background between them, allowing for more creative building.
When nearing the top of the world, the player will now leave the atmosphere and be less affected by gravity.
There are now three types of traps that are generated underground. Watch your step!
Cacti no longer damage players.

Game Interface

Items being held by the mouse will now be used by left clicking. This allows the player to place objects without putting them on the hotbar. Right clicking will now drop the item.
Placing objects on grass will now destroy the grass.
The crafting menu now scales to fit the size of the screen.
When the inventory is open, the number of the selected item in the hotbar will appear in green.
There is a new NPC housing interface that can be used to assign living areas to NPC’s. This interface will also tell you if a room is missing any requirements.

Misc

There is a new music track for The Hallow biome.
Underground Corruption has its own music track.
Underground Hallow has its own music track.
There are two new boss music tracks.
Greatly reduced world save file sizes.
Decreased tile frame detection time by 15%.
Your trash can is now emptied when you die.
Added an auto select hotkey that will pick a tool from the player’s inventory based on what their mouse is hovering over. This defaults to Left Shift.
All players will now leave behind tombstones when killed.
There is now a random option in the player creation menu.
Female players now have separate armor graphics.
Added a new mechanical system! Holding a mechanical item will display the wire grid to create interesting new devices.
There are new overworld backgrounds for each biome!

Bug Fixes

Fixed a bug that would cause the server to think a player is dead if he/she reaches 1 HP without dying.
Fixed a bug that wouldn’t allow players to craft from the ammo slot.
Fixed a bug that would crash the game when player tried to draw water outside the bounds of the world.
Fixed a bug that would cause mana regen to ignore stat bonuses given by armor or accessories
Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause the game to crash when growing Underground Jungle grass.
Wooden Platforms no longer attach to non-solid objects.
Placing and removing items during the placing animation will no longer destroy the item when it is collected.
Fixed a bug that would cause graphical abnormalities when the lighting changes dramatically.
The FPS display (F10) shows the correct number.
Fixed a bug that swapped the lighting of players pants and head armor.
Fixed a problem that would cause water to settle in strange positions.
Fixed a problem that caused objects with transparency to appear darker than they should.
