So I just bought inFamous 2 and decided to make this thread while the update downloads. I've been pretty excited for a while given how the first game was and I'm happy that Walmart sells it with a voucher for the electrocution grenade.

Anybody else buying/bought this?

I might rent this I played the demo and it's a grand build up to the initial base of the game. The Lifting cars power is a insanely nice addition as well as the AMP strapped along cole's back.

Ooooh, apparently people can make customized missions that show up as green markers on the map if you're online, they can even make silent subtitles to add backstory. I only tried one made by the developers but this has amazing potential once people start goofing around with it. And I'll definitely give it a shot after I complete the game on both ends of the karma spectrum.

I got the game at around noon. I took maybe four breaks. I finally pulled myself away from my PS3 about an hour ago. I am at mission 31-ish and have completed every side mission along the way. I think it's safe to say I love this game. I especially love the power swapping. Being able to change grenade or blast types on the fly is awesome, and adds a lot more depth.

I just wish there was an easy way to find the nearest dead drop pigeon instead of running randomly around the city until you see it on your mini map. I want my backstory dammit!

@Doc Ock

The demo doesn't do the actual game justice. Sure lifting cars is neat, but launching yourself into the air with a pillar of ice and then raining down cluster grenades, or shooting electro-rockets that break up into smaller rockets that home in and stick to your target, well it's an entirely different experience. I definitely recommend the game, rental or buy, whatever floats your boat/wallet.

Wait, pillar of ice?
Did Cole's powers mutate, or something?

In a sense, yes. There's one point in the story where you can choose between fire or ice to complement your electric powers. The ice powers are the "good" choice and the fire powers are the "evil" choice. It all makes sense in the context of the story, so it's not just some random power mutation.

I can't wait for the custom "murder everything, because there's a lot of it" mission series to get on the network.

So far, so good... Mostly. Can't say I care for the User Generated levels. (They don't come into play immediately, only after the first few missions, the PS3 requests to log in & set them up.)

They're just so bland & the lack of sound, makes them fairly uninteresting. And now they're all over my map, which stinks.

Can't say I think the new voice actor for Cole is any way an improvement. Not that he's bad, but from the interviews I've heard, the reason why they switched, doesn't seem to pan out.

Its more of a lateral move. Only mediocre talent for another one (who may or may not be slightly cheaper).

Yeah the UGC is nothing special, but it IS their first foray into that kind of content and it's just some extra fluff. I wasn't expecting anything super amazing when I first heard about it though. But if you dislike having them on your map, you should be able to turn it off in the User Content menu.

Also I've beaten the game and the ending is fantastic. I won't say much more for now because I fear I've beaten it stupidly fast. Now I need to go for an evil playthough, but first I have a few surviving pigeons to hunt down.

Recently bought it. Loving it so far. Downside is that i played the first infamous all the way through on my brothers ps3 before i got my own so i can't import trophy data...

So I started to play this a few days ago, and I'm really liking it. I'm about 29 missions in and still going strong.

I'm playing the good side. I'm am such a boy scout in the games like this, I can't help it. That, and Nix is pretty annoying, so really, who wants to help her? Besides: the ice jump. How in the world did I get around before I got that power?

Actually the real power to get is the lightning tether (one place let you get it immediately if you preordered the game from them, but I instead went for Walmart and their shitty electrocution grenade). Once you get that you'll be grabbing shards left and right.

Just started playing, still working on it but wanted to share what I thought so far.

First off, I love how unlike most games they didn't hit the reset button on my powers. I dont have all of them, but its nice to not start from square one. I am not fond of what they did to your basic lightning attack. Visually I miss that it was shooting lighting, second is that it now requires electricity to use which is annoying with how much health enemies have. I have to shot a dozen or two to kill a low level enemy.

Other power change I am not fond of was replacing my lightning strikes with tornadoes and limiting their use to random enemy drops making it harder to plan. Even without that I miss raining down electric doom while claiming I am THOR GOD OF THUNDER

The moral choices are a step up though. While alot are pretty cartoonishly evil, they are contracted well by the positive ones. I am doing villain for my first run through and I legitimately feel bad for my choices. I think its more important to feel the choices mean something then it is to have complex and realistic choices. Ideally I'd want both but Infamous was always good at having people react appropriately to the kind of character I was crafting

The good path gets the Magnum Bolt, which is a bolt of lighting. Although it fires much slower it is much more powerful.

You get three ionic powers over the course of the game. First is the tornado, second is related to whether you went good or evil, and the third is the Thunder Storm of Death.

Dead drops:
I found the dead drops to be rather disappointing for this game. I was really hoping for something interesting to develop on the suspicion of the NSA and First Sons working together, but then if went back to Bertrand gaining power and explaining why the militia has a nuke and how they got it.

Karma-specific side missions:
There were some that were decent and some that weren't. Having the ice-soldier ally was pretty cool, even if it was a very shallow story (aside from most likely being the mercenary that shows up in the dead drops). Most of the missions were somewhat bland IMO, but it was some extra xp and missions toward the upgrades they unlocked. Gotta say that the one evil mission in the north Gas Works "Playing Hero" was fun in the fact that right after you beat up the militia, a bunch of citizens gather around you (assuming you didn't kill them in the crossfire). After getting the mission completion display I went ahead and invalidated the entire point of the mission by using Ionic Drain to kill everyone I "saved".

I looked a bit at the UGC creation program they have and it's set up pretty nice, though it may be complicated for those unfamiliar with basic game mechanics. I'll probably try and make a mission just to see what I can do, and then let you guys know the title if I put it up.

that was the other thing, dead drops, now I could handle the method but finding them is now nothing but lucky if one happens to be flying near you and you happen to be looking at your mini-map. I loved the dead drops because to me back story is a great reward. But I've completed a good chunk of the game and only found five, whats more I have no real way to go after more besides a tedious grid search.

on a related note, do some of them change depending on your karma? One of them talks about me being a sociopath in the last game and it was on my evil playthrough

One changes depending on your karma choices, so that if fits.

Also, the easiest way to get the dead drops is to look up a map with them (one of them is THAT hard to find).

finished it and some things about the end didn't quite sit right

I get Nix, but why did Kou, someone that was pretty heavily in the "for greater good" camp. Other was when I heard
"I wish there was another way"
and felt like screaming THERE IS, ITS LITERALLY IN MY BACK POCKET"

Also abit on narrative, I mean the whole point of the evil options was to get the power you needed to defeat the beast at any cost. Just felt abit cheap that the version that should be the most powerful, was the one that effectively just sat back and watched.
