any opinions on it? I am up for some more wRPG fun and it doesn't look like there will be any new games in this vain till later this year. So is it worth the cash?

I recently bought both of them, haven't tried Dead Money yet, but Honest Hearts is great, especially if you're into Fallout lore. Joshua Graham is the raddest Mormon ever.

Admittedly that's not exactly hard.....

The area you get to run around in is great and a nice change from most of FO3 and NV (near pristine wooded river canyon). Adds a ton of good new items and craftables too.

The 45 Calibre machine gun and pistol are good new weapons too. More stuff for melee and unarmed though. Seen nothing for energy weapons though. Only lame thing is that the only new enemy it adds so far has been the Yao Gui, and they were in FO3. But yeah I'd say Honest Hearts is worth it. Dead Money I'll get back to you on after I beat Honest Hearts.

I liked them both a lot, but I'm getting a little annoyed at Bethesda and their release habits. Seems they are tighter and tighter lipped about everything until just days before the release when they actually announce the release date.

Dude it's made by Obsidian, who have released a fair bit about the two upcoming DLC.

The Lonesome Road looks amazing, hope The Divide lives up to even a fraction of what they've built it up to.

Made by Obsidian, released by Bethesda. I've seen a few times already on Sawyer's Formspring that the DLC packs are all done, and Obsidian has no idea when they get released because Bethesda handles distribution.

Just halfway through the month already and they still haven't announced which Tuesday they will release Old World Blues on. FO3 DLC had much longer build-ups then this.

Nice to hear they are all worth the value, but so far would you say any are must haves like Broken Steel was for FO3, or are they all like Point Lookout of Anchorage and merely something I should grab if I got 10 bucks kicking around

So far, Honest Hearts should be the must-get, relatively on-par to what Broken Steel was to FO3.

But honestly?
It's doubtful any of the DLC will be like that. Especially so, since Obsidian has absolutely no plans to open up the ending of the game.
So, unless The Lonesome Road is some awesome feat of writing, coding, modelling and stuff, they're more like Anchorage and Point Lookout.

Well really you couldn't do much with Broken Steel, except the main quest of Broken Steel, so it didn't add much (but then I thought Point Lookout was a much better expansion, cause well the Western Wasteland was pretty fucking boring to explore). But then Points of No Return don't bug me, I'm happy with NV's ending as is. And FO3's only bugged me because of how irritating Fawkes little backstabbing bitchery was (if they'd just had you not get irradiated then say you wandered West or something, THE END, I would have been with FO3 ending right there).

All Vegas DLC add what was to me the most important thing that Broken Steel added, more levels to gain (each add on adds another five levels, so you'll be able to hit level 50 with all four) and the new gear from each expansion area gets added to the Mojave after beating the main quest I think (the 45 cal guns do at least).

Dead Money has a few glitches that make the game unplayable. Just keep a few extra saves handy.

right I should probably explain what I liked so much about Broken Steel over the others. The two I mentioned on the low end just added some land and some side quests, a few new enemies and weapons, and thats it. Broken Steel added that, plus raised level cap, new perks, better quests, and I got to nuke something from orbit. Even ignoring the fix to the crappy ending it was all around better DLC.

In between those I'd put Mothership Zeta, added alot of cool stuff, completely different setting and feel, and the quest was (in my opinion) on par with Broken Steel. I felt like my actions had impact and weight, while in lets say Point Lookout it felt more like just visiting a random town of little significance.

Note: I'm aware that in both Zeta and Lookout neither had any impact on wasteland at large. I am just talking about the feeling I got while playing

Both DLC extend the level cap and add new perks and land and whatnot. But they have said that they aren't going to change the ending to NV and make it playable after you beat the main quest.

Oi ya fags I made a thread on this. Two in fact, but one got lost in the blastwave.

Meanwhile, Honest Hearts was pretty good. We had some new additions in perks and weaponry, a new storyline with faint undertones of Abrahamic ideas, a sweet unmarked sidequest exploring the adventures of a badass. A good addition, Joshua wasn't half as much of an asshole as I hoped he would be, but this wasn't so definite either. The companions as well seemed a bit lacking, because both were just tribal connections to their quest giving counterparts. They had their own minds, but they weren't that interesting. It seemed more a presentation of the land than the quest in comparison to Dead Money.

Dead Money also added weaponry, perks, and a quest with an underlying theme of greed ambition and jealousy and the efforts to let it go. It is also one that is going to frequently try to kill you. And it will succeed at least once. The quest and companions in this one felt a bit better to me than Honest Hearts, but the location isn't nearly as open and in fact is closed off forever when you leave.

So Honest Hearts seemed directed at our exploration sorts who like to get lost in immersion, while Dead Money was for folks with a love of a dedicated questline and character development. Both are worth their cash, but I don't know if you would rather just chill till the GOTY edition. I figure it'll feel better if they were all in at the start.

I felt that the size of each DLC was a little lacking. Each was rather short, and Dead Money kind of felt way too linear. Losing access to all your previous items and weaponry is kind of annoying too. I much prefer what they did in Honest Hearts where you're simply limited on your carrying capacity.

Fun fact: Anti-material rifle plus a few dozen Armor Piercing rounds equals many, many dead Deathclaws.

Anti-material rifle plus a few dozen Armor Piercing rounds equals dead anything.

Size was troublesome in both, but nothing I cared about enough since I like how they used that time and it was just $10 anyway. Also it was the linearity that felt good to me in Dead Money, I've lost a lot of my exploratory spirit since the game was released and so I'm mostly in it for the plot points now.

Listening to the characters talk about Mormon/Christian lore and actually go into depth on topics was really nice. Showed the level of research and seriousness that the writing team had for it, and was fascinating without being preachy.
