Well... That's certainly an old fashioned way of thinking about things... I'm sure there's going to be a news story about this in a day or so...

Are we sure that's not a shop.

I have to agree with Smarty. I don't ever recall seeing anything like this in previous Sims games and the text seems deliberately trollish.

With two separate pictures on the first page, I'm doubting that having a baby out of wedlock seems to mean just a female should feel repercussions.
It doesn't seem likely it's a shop...

As I recall, you can be publicly disgraced for someone falsely accusing you of peeing in public and giving a gift to a vampire (who may actually be your husband), so it's hard not to get publicly disgraced even if you don't do anything actually publicly indecent.
But mostly, you're "disgraced" because your sim is a celebrity, and have you read a tabloid? It's not that your sim is being hated by society, but rather some fictional news group in the game talking about it. The sims is only mimicking how the media reacts to the news that our celluloid darlings have kids without telling us and having them in the ways we didn't expect.
The source also recently added in that the Husband will get the debuff as well, if he remains in the playable house, and that it goes both ways: if the husband has a kid and the wife isn't present, the Husband gets the debuff.

we just had an entire thread how something far minor to this ruined a good man's political career. This is hardly an unrealistic portrayal of our society

Not to derail the thread, but I heard some of the pics he was sending were unsolicited, which does change things a bit. There's a difference online sex scandal and sending people pics of your Weiner that they didn't ask for.

If you were to get your morals from videogames then you're pretty fucked no matter what game you choose really.

If you are a celebrity, rest assured that a large majority of society will do everything in their power to tear you down and make you look like shit to satisfy their own inferiority complexes even if its something many of them may have done themselves. Looking at the evidence, I feel that this game mechanic is a reflection of that tendency rather than any sort of moralizing on the part of either Maxis or EA. Pyros explained it well; regardless of gender, having a child outside of an established relationship will draw the media jackals.
You know what? Fuck humanity. Just fuck it.

perhaps, but you will notice that wasn't what the media was focusing on. There mere fact this is the first I've heard of this should show that even if solicited, people will still brand you as a moral deviant.

Conservative ideas popping up in a medium doesn't mean its publisher is making an active effort to push forward a conservative agenda.

A video game screenshot taken out of context in order to create false sensationalism? Never seen that before.
