Today we are happy to announce that Sonic CD will debut on mobile phones and consoles everywhere! Originally released for the SEGA CD system in 1993, and included the first appearance of fan favorite characters Metal Sonic and Amy Rose. Big news for fans everywhere, Sonic CD is coming to digital platforms with music from the original Japanese soundtrack. The beloved prequel to Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode I is coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network, iPhone and iPod touch, iPad, PC Digital Download, Android, and Windows Phone! Best of all, Sonic CD will be available for download in late 2011!

To kick off Sega PAX (Penny Arcade Expo), Sega is announcing the rerelease of Sonic CD for X-Box Live, PSN, Android (~YYEEEEESSSSSS!!!!~), and PC.

I have to get this for my Xepria (The fabled PlayStation Phone)! :D I've been waiting for a mobile Sonic game for months now!

But Sonic CD was already on PC. That's how I played it without a Sega CD. I mean, it didn't have the assuredly sugoi original Japanese soundtrack, but yeah. Is the theme song as awesome and awful in the original soundtrack?

But this one new and improved in HD with added features plus achievements/trophies. :D

They haven't said if it'll have both sound tracks available or not. Least not yet anyway.

I do know that it was originally suppose to have the Japanese from the beginning back when it launched on Sega CD up until executive meddling caused the USA and a few other countries to get an entirely different and darker sound track.
