http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=8FpigqfcvlM

It's fucking awesome.

So i'm sharing!

This beats a LOT of the webcasts about games i see around today

The one that I saw seems way better than Extra Credits. He doesn't talk down to you.

Like, Extra Credits seems to think that you're beneath them, and they need to teach you all these things since look at the smart people talking, whereas this guy seems to just be enjoying himself talking about Megaman X. (It's the one I saw).

Extra Credits just rubs me the wrong way. I dunno if it's because I know what they're talking about, and they seem to act as if they're this big authority on it and need to teach everyone, or what, but does anyone else get the same feeling?

Edit: The one you linked is the one I saw!

Super Edit: In fact, it's like, EC would be Megaman X with Roll going, "MEGAMAN MEGAMAN", and he's real Megaman X.

Yes I do, but given that Extra Credits is written by a seasoned game developer and original created and written as a demonstration of a essay for the voice's master degree in game design. They have credentials to talk down.

But it IS a nice fresh breath of air to see someone do it from a level point of view

Also the fact that the vast majority of their demographic aren't in Indie Game Studios, and therefore actually do need to be taught all this stuff (if they want to know it).

I mean, that's basically the entire reason you watch Extra Credits.

My one complaint with it is that he complains about what Castlevania has become when it focuses on your character getting a bunch of abilities, the exact same thing he praises Megaman X about.

And he also uses Order of Ecclesia to show how the Castlevania games have become easier and reliant on leveling up. Even though it's the Castlevania where trying to grind doesn't really help a lot and is probably the hardest one of last few years of the franchise.

He was complaining on how they presented it. Mega man does it in a semi-linear presentation of what you can do with the abilities slowly building up at predictable levels.

Those castlevania titles however can be tackled in any way you want there is no tutorials and there is no way of knowing exactly how much of a chance you stand which is what Ego is complaining about.

Well, that's the thing I guess. I'm not really their demographic. I'm not a seasoned game developer (Though I do like seasoned salt!), but I'm in game development. I've got a growing indie game studio that I'm working in, and we've got a game out on the market, so a lot of the stuff makes me go, "Well, duh. Everyone knows that.", just from either learning it in class, or in da skool of hard knocks while we were getting this game made, and I figure anything that I know has to be pretty much mainstream knowledge.

Honestly, it's not... Coming at what EC says as a writer or someone outside, they give a pretty fresh view into the gaming world that most of us aren't privy to. It can be pretty interesting how they've done so much to introduce concepts that I would gloss over in a game.

I dig this series. This is a good series, and I do love me some Egoraptor.

I concur, this was hilarious and well-thought out.

What's also funny is even though it's 20 minutes long it may have taken him less time do than the insanely animated shorts he was doing in his Awesome series that were only a minute and a half long or so...I still chuckle at the Awesome Reach one, and the Awesome Gaiden one.

Sequelitis gave me words to describe why I liked Megaman X so much. It's a good series and I'm sad that the apparent update gap is so huge.

Yeah I love this series, thanks for the intro. Is there any word on an upcoming one, or is it dead in the water?
