I don't need to enable Flash to realise that these are the videos caused me to dislocate my jaw earlier today when I discovered them in the NPF Chat. Literally.

That second one isn't all that bad if you ignore the lyrics.
Frankly, FF13 already had a bunch of songs that really needed to be pure instrumental, so at least things haven't gotten (much) worse.
You can't ignore the lyrics, though. Like, the rhythm, the words, the voice, it is all so atrocious that you can't look away.

That's like saying Battlefield 3 is a 10/10 game as long as you ignore the single player.

I told myself I wouldn't buy this game. I told myself I wouldn't buy this game. I told myself I wouldn't buy this game . . .

Like, I want to play whatever part of the game uses that Chocobo song, but not the other one.
They need to suck it up and take tips from SEGA on how to make awesome music.

...And that's genuinely a reasonable statement to make. I'm not sure what your point is.
Noncon's sort of right on the money, though. At least in Battlefield 3 you can choose not to click the singleplayer button.
EDIT: Also, the Lake Bresha Rap honestly reminds me of TWEWY to some extent, which makes it impossible for me to hate it.
EDIT 2: It also reminds me of Toby Fox's Homestuck album about MPreg. Rose had a brief rap song about how she wanted to be Dave's baby mommy.
"Hearts and minds and souls and hearts,
They love each other, you bag of farts."

You can't say something's good as long as you ignore a certain part of it.
...with this approach I'm going to have to retroactively adjust a lot of my opinions.
You can't say something's good as long as you ignore a certain part of it.
Actually, you totally, totally can. That's (part of) how opinions work. The only issue arises when you expect other people to value such things the same way you do or expect them to be willing to ignore what you do.
Example: Every immature shit who threw a fit when I didn't give BF3 a very good score.
So long as you don't do that, you're more than welcome to value things differently from others.
THAT SAID: I'd rather this thread, which is about XIII-2 as well as its terrible music, to be too derailed with stupid conversations about how opinions are supposed to work. I get enough of that shit from game critics on Twitter.

Have you heard any 13-2 music that DOESN'T have lyrics yet? Like, have they released the new battle theme? Because I eagerly anticipate that. I still have both standard battle and boss battle themes from 13-1 on my iPod.
They've released plenty of other music and some of it sounds good, but nothing really stands out.

Did they like... hire the least talented people on OCRemix to make their soundtrack?

The one constant good between roller-coaster of quality that is the Final Fantasy series has always been the music.
So Square basically shot that in the foot too. Doh well, not like I was gonna buy it anyway.

I may watch an LP on 13-2 at some point, depending on how much shit it is and who the LP guy is.
Buying it is just out of the question for me.
The sad thing is that other than the music the game looks pretty good.

What the crap is wrong with you people, this is the only logical next step for the Chocobo song! Haven't you heard any of the other ones? They've covered every genre already! Waltz, Samba, Fugue, Electric, Techno.
The only place left for them to go is Metal Rap! THE ONLY! PLACE! LEFT!
It's these sequels! They always want another chocobo song! But there are only so many ways to change a song! Even a casual look at OCRemix will show you that there are limits!

That is so much better. Those are actually some pretty good tracks, it's just a same that the whole soundtrack is a rollercoaster ride from shit to awesome.

It's not "a la", it's "de", but that's just me being pedantic.
I don't think this is all that bad. I mean, I love VI, but Techno De Chocobo was pretty nutso as well.

The thing is that every other chocobo song (including Techno De) has been upbeat/fun, giving the impression that riding chocobos is carefree and fun most of the time.
This makes it sound like you are riding a chocobo comprised entirely of metal and flames, with a wicked razor beak, through the gates of hell itself.
I started laughing as soon as the lyrics began.
"Everybody's gonna wanna ride your chocobo!"
"So cute yet fierce; is he from hell?!"
I mean, come on. I'd probably have the time of my life (for a few minutes) just running around in circles with a chocobo while this played.

Yeah, that better have the best chocobo gameplay with that track.

So the game lands in Japan tomorrow. It's gotten two perfect scores so far, one from Famitsu and another from Dengeki (source: wikipedia).
I don't care about weird rap and chocobo death metal, I can always just turn down the volume for those parts. I'm still listening to the final boss theme. Where the high points are concerned, FF13-2's soundtrack appears to easily match its predecessor's.
The low points... well, FF13-1 had a few songs I couldn't stand either. Generally the ones (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WewwBFLLOE&feature=related) with lyrics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZXQmWkgAFA).

Famitsu and Dengeki are utterly meaningless for scores. Literally. Like even compared to Western review sites they are pretty much absolute "pay for your grade".
Anyway cautiously optimistic, gonna wait a couple weeks after release before I buy it though. FF13 sucked too much for me to be that trusting.
Also the metal chocobo song while hilarious should have been attached to that PSP FF coming up with the bloodthirsty battle chocobos.

I suddenly feel like this song would be the best theme music ever for a FFTA2 Chocobo Knight, riding the Level 99 Red Chocobo.
Just droppin' Choco Meteors everywhere.
