I'm pretty excited about this. Far Cry 2 would have been one of my favorite games if the pacing was improved, but everything else was great. I'm hoping that Ubisoft is bringing in an even more refined game with this one, since realism factor is off the charts with this series. With any hope the multiplayer will also be more fun than the last game.
And shit, the level of CG in that trailer is . . . just . . . wow.

Have you ever seen the E3 demonstration? Which prominently featured the quote "Have I ever told you the definition of insanity?" It makes it look pretty darn good, I must say. It's right here. Go watch it. (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2011-far-cry-3/715914) Thank me later.

I was a huge fan of Far Cry 2, really. It was a bit unfinished, admittedly, but it allowed you to craft your own experience in a plethora of ways, which I loved. It was a stealth game, a "standard" FPS, a sniping game, all rolled into one, because all those approaches were feasible. And while none of the set pieces were particularly interesting, you made your own great moments.
New one's looking good too. Looks like it'll maintain the open-world aspect.
And the characters seem pretty nice, particularly the antagonist.
Edit:
And, hey, there's role-playing elements. Nice.

I see you quoting him in the future.
